It’s been a big year for Lionel Richie. First, his youngest daughter is officially married in what was the royal wedding of the year. Just a few weeks ago, Lionel was with all his friends and family for Elliot Grainge and Sofia Richie’s wedding at the Hotel du Cap. Now, Lionel Richie is in London for King Charles’ coronation. He’s not a bystander though: Lionel Richie is performing at the coronation. These are his favorite places to stay when he’s in town.
The Lanesborough
Unsurprisingly, one of Lionel Richie’s favorite hotels in London is the Lanesborough. The Lanesborough is an iconic hotel in Knightsbridge, that is right across from Hyde Park as well as Buckingham Palace. The hotel is also part of the Oetker Collection, which means that it’s a sister hotel to the Hotel du Cap Eden-Roc. It’s hard to forget that the Hotel du Cap was where Lionel hosted Sofia Richie’s wedding. The Lanesborough is classically regal and this weekend will be a center of activity for King Charles’ coronation. We can’t confirm it for sure, but our bet is that this is where Lionel Richie stays in London for the big event.
The Mandarin Oriental
He clearly has a style of hotel he likes, because the Mandarin Oriental makes his short list of where Lionel Richie stays in London. The Mandarin Oriental is classically elegant, and the original location is also located near Knightsbridge in Hyde Park. There are new residences in Mayfair coming online as well as a Mandarin Oriental hotel. However, the original Mandarin Oriental has been where Lionel Richie stays in London for the past few decades.
The Mandarin Oriental recently went through a full renovation, which made the rooms more in line with the modern Asian aesthetic of the other hotels. However, it retains a classic elegance, and the Mandarin Bar is always a fun scene.
