The Celeb: Brad Pitt
The Location: Los Feliz, California
The Price: $33 Million
Brad originally bought the property, Briarcliff Manor, in 1994 for 1.7 million. After raising his kids with Angelina Jolie in the 6,700 sq. ft. mansion, Brad Pitt’s house sold in an off market deal to oil heiress Aileen Getty. The pair however, appeared to swap mansions, as Pitt bought Getty’s smaller home nearby. While living in Briarcliff Manor, Brad Pitt renovated the plot extensively and even added several acres.
The Overview:
Brad bought the property from actress Cassandra “Elvira” Peterson who claimed the house was haunted. But that definitely (probably) wasn’t the reason for his divorce. Brad Pitt’s house renovations to the shingle-style home were extensive. There actually aren’t public photos of the final renovations since the deal was done off-market. However if you buy a house for under $2 million and sell it for over $30 million, you know a lot of work was done.
Brad Pitt’s house is everything a celebrity needs, especially privacy. The home is shrouded in trees and bushes which offered him and his family much needed privacy. What you can see are the spa, koi pond, spa, and huge swimming pool.
The Los Feliz neighborhood suited the family well. It’s the kind of place where there are neighborhood mainstays, as well as new up and coming spots that local creatives love. Coffee shops, eateries, cocktail spots and juiceries line the neighborhood blocks. You can find Brad Pitt-types after their hikes in Gryffith Park. Although Brad Pitt’s house sold, it’s nice to know that he’ll still have an abode nearby, albeit a more modest house.
