Overview
The island of Capri will never go out of style. Since the days of Jackie O, if you want the glamor, you go to Capri. But the hotels were always a bit anticlimactic, if you’re going by the international standard of luxury. The Oetker Collection, however, looks to change that this season. This is the first look at Hotel La Palma.
The Oetker Collection
The Oetker Collection chooses their real estate projects, like Bill Ackman of Pershing Square does due diligence on his investments. So you know if the Oetker Collection adds hotel to their portfolio, the chances are high that the experience is going to be in a word, exquisite. Therefore, expectations are high for Hotel La Palma, their latest project on the Amalfi Coast.
Historically, Hotel La Palma was never a real luxury hotel option on the island, but it had the best location. And you know what they say about real estate – it’s location, location, and location. Now that The Oetker Collection has taken Hotel La Palma under its wings, it hasn’t even opened yet, and it’s already the place to stay in Capri this summer. Anyone who is looking to book in the Amalfi knows that by now, almost everything is completely booked out. However, if your dates are flexible to August or even September, Amalfi and Capri shine during this time.
The First Hotel on the Island
Hotel La Palma has the distinction as the first on the island, built way back in 1822. If you ever peeked your head into the lobby of the original hotel in the 2000s, it kind of looked like that was around the time of the last renovation, too. But now 200 years later in 2022, the Oetker group is in charge. Under their watch, Hotel De Palma is being converted into an elegant 50 room hotel, with a rooftop restaurant and bar. Of course La Fontelina will be as hot as ever this summer, but the Hotel La Palma looks like it will be the hardest ressie in town. Hotel La Palma will debut its own exclusive beach club, (more on that below) a brand new pool deck, a spa, and high fashion boutiques.
The Rooms
The interior rooms and public areas of Hotel La Palma will be designed by Francesco Delogu, of Delogu Architects. While London based Francis Sultana will use his experience to design the restaurant, spa, pool, and beach club. Each of the 50 hotel rooms, including the 18 suites will each have their own private balconies. Guests can book their stay this summer starting in July at prices ranging from 1,950 – 4,600 Euros a night.
The Restaurant and Bar
The restaurant, bar, and terrace will be under the culinary direction of Chef Gennaro Esposito. He is the owner of the two-Michelin Star restaurant, Torre del Saracino. The stylish setup will be themed around 1950s Italy, embracing the timeless romance of the island. The rooftop bar and restaurant will become the epicenter of nightlife on the island. Furthermore, its stunning views of the village and sea will create glamours atmosphere.
The Beach Club and Spa
During the day guests can enjoy Hotel La Palma’s beach club. It is situated in the Marina Piccola, one of the most famous and popular beaches on the island. It will become a meeting point for the who’s who of the island. In addition, it will be a place where cocktails and sunsets create an atmosphere of luxury and relaxation. The spa will feature treatment rooms and suits, a sauna, steam room, ice shower, and fitness center.
