If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it clearly does not apply to this place. With a perfect view, a Michelin-starred restaurant, and a recurring spot on lists of the Most Beautiful Hotels in France, Les Roches Rouges basically said: I can do better. So on May 7th, it opened its doors again after a top-to-toe renovation. And checking out their new wellness program is one of the best excuses you’ll ever have to soak up the coastline of the Côte d’Azur.
Re-design
Originally a 1950s seaside bolthole, Les Roches Rouges got its first big facelift in 2017, courtesy of Festen Architecture. The 2025 refresh—also by Festen—fine-tunes that easy-breezy Riviera aesthetic: minimalist but warm; clean but lived-in. The property now has 50 rooms (as opposed to 44), all of which face the sea—no garden compromises here. There’s a stronger focus on wellness and nature this time around: native landscaping, natural materials, and an overall “don’t overthink it” philosophy that works wonders on tight shoulders.
Accommodation
The rooms are exactly how you’d want your beach house to look if you were French and très relaxed: pale walls, terracotta tiles, floaty curtains, and shelves with actual books. No big tech distractions, just soft beds, views of the sea, and ceramic cups that somehow make coffee taste better. Opt for a suite if you want a freestanding tub and more space to flounce around in your robe. Turndown service includes a homemade lavender pillow mist, which is something you didn’t even know was necessary — but it so is.
Dining
Food here isn’t just a perk—it’s part of the wellness program (with wine). The headline act is La Table de La Plage, which now holds a Michelin star thanks to Chef José Bailly’s ultra-seasonal Mediterranean menus. Expect things like sea bream crudo with citrus, roasted garden vegetables with wild herbs, and bouillabaisse so delicate it might whisper compliments.
There’s also La Terrasse, a more casual, barefoot-friendly spot by the pool serving grilled catch-of-the-day, pissaladière, and iced rosé like it’s a food group. And for light bites or a nightcap, Bar Les Roches has a small plates menu (anchovy tartines, olives, tiny artichokes) and a sunset view that makes everyone suddenly philosophical.
Wellness
This is the main event here. There are three single treatment rooms and one relaxation room. The menu now features indulgent facials by Holidermie and rejuvenating body rituals by Maison Caulières, both of which emphasize the power of natural botanicals. Extracted through a unique cold-press method, these ingredients are designed to nourish the skin and enhance its radiant glow.
And if you’re still feeling tense (we doubt it, but let’s imagine, for argument’s sake) — try to float it out in the natural seawater pool, carved right into the rock. It can be your reward for even thinking about going on a coastal hike. Or, if you’re really into exercise, you can use the new well-equipped fitness room and the dedicated swimming lane in the heated pool. Aperitif afterwards? Obviously.
