If the Amalfi Coast is Italy’s summer darling, Uber just became its private butler. This July and August, they’re skipping the traffic (and the ferry chaos) by rolling out not one, but two ways to float above—or across—it all. One takes you to the sky. The other keeps things glam at sea level. You’ll be cruising the coast like it was made just for you. That’s right, Uber launched helicopter and boat services on the Amalfi Coast.
Uber Copter
Uber’s helicopter service is exactly what it sounds like: high-flying, engine-purring, six-seat smoothness from Sorrento to Capri and back again. So every Saturday and Sunday from July 26 to August 24, you’ll be able to book a round-trip helicopter ride that takes you from a dedicated helipad in Sorrento, straight to the island of Capri. Forget the braving twisty roads. Now, you’ll be up and over the water in just 15 minutes, landing in Capri with plenty of time to shop, sunbathe, or just sip something cold and citrusy in the Piazzetta. Each flight is run by a two-pilot crew on a dual-engine helicopter—sleek, quick, and private-feeling.
You’ll lift off at 9 a.m. and fly back at 5 p.m., which gives you a full day on the island. And the cost? €250 round-trip, per person. Or €1500 if you want to have the ride all for yourself. Definitely not bad, considering it includes pickup and drop-off at your hotel or villa, and saves you at least half a day’s worth of waiting, weaving, and waving down transport. All of it can be booked directly through the Uber app with just 48 hours’ notice. It’ll show up in the same place you normally order cars—just under a shiny new “Uber Copter” option.
The reason this is all happening now is Salerno Airport has opened to international flights for the first time, which means way more traffic is heading into Amalfi. Uber’s idea: rise above it. Literally.
Uber Boat
If you prefer your views closer to the waves, Uber is also offering Uber Boat—a new service launching from the Sorrento Marina. It’s running the same weekends as Uber Copter, and it’s even more low-key. Basically, you hop on a classic Gozzo 35, all polished wood and striped cushions, with a skipper at the helm and drinks already chilled. For the next four hours, you’ll cruise along the coast with up to 11 friends. It’s a good way to skip the mobbed beaches and explore the coves and cliffs on your own terms—no sandals required. Like the chopper, boat rides can be booked right through the app. You’ll just need to select a time slot, show up at the marina, and let your captain do the rest. Snacks, drinks, shade, music—it’s all handled.
The Amalfi Coast
Now let’s talk about the backdrop for all this: the Amalfi Coast. Certainly there’s a reason it draws royalty, billionaires, and everyone with a halfway-decent summer wardrobe. The coastline is all cliffs and lemon groves, roads like spaghetti, villages stacked so perfectly it almost feels staged. Especially Positano, Amalfi, Ravello, Capri—they’re not just places. They’re stages. From above, they look like watercolor sketches. From the sea, they shimmer like they’re floating.
But here’s the thing—getting around isn’t always as romantic. The ferries are jammed. The roads curve for hours. And taxis? Let’s just say they’re not known for their flexibility. Which is why Uber’s chopper and boat duo makes perfect sense. You’re not avoiding the Amalfi experience. Instead, you’re upgrading it. You still see the coast, taste the limoncello, wander the piazzas—but you’re doing it with the breeze in your hair.
