We’re going to throw this out there: Chicago (not LA, not New York, and not Miami) has the best city hotels in the United States. And the food — well, don’t get us started. Today, there’s a new luxury hotel on the scene. Especially for Marriott fans, the St. Regis is yet another reason to put Chicago on the weekend-trip rotation. Although there isn’t a ton of information the new hotel yet, here’s what we do know.
The Vision
The concept for the St. Regis Chicago comes to us via the Magellan Development Group. The firm approached Jeanne Gang, founder of Studio Gang, a collective of over 100 architects, designers, and planners to take on the project. Together, they wanted to add something spectacular to Chicago’s famous skyline. The St. Regis Chicago will be located in the Windy City’s third-tallest building. The structure presents itself as three interconnected blocks of different heights, whose organic shape flows upwards to the sky.
Residences & Hotel
The St.Regis Chicago Residences features a variety of floor plans, each with its own luxurious style and design. These range from one- to four-bedroom condominiums that have been outfitted with luxury brands such as Thermador, Gaggenau, Kallista, and Snaidero. In addition, the world-renowned interior designers at Hirsch Bedner Associates have created finishing palettes inspired by natural crystals.
The hotel will include much of the same luxurious style in its 192 guest rooms. These will be located on the first eleven floors of the building. Also, the hotel will have its own pool, fitness center, spa, outdoor terrace, and collective indoor spaces. In addition, there are two restaurants, on the second and eleventh floors.
The Neighborhood
The 101-story building is situated where the Chicago River meets Lake Michigan. Lakeshore East is a masterfully built community that prioritizes green spaces and an aesthetically pleasing design. The location of this St. Regis is in close proximity to some of the best Chicago has to offer. This includes the popular Millennium Park (which has the Bean) and Grant Park. If you head south, you’l find museums like the Art Institute of Chicago, the Adler Planetarium, the Field Museum, and the Shedd Aquarium. To the north are the Magnificent Mile (for a great shopping experience) and Navy Pier.
