It was touch and go there for a while, but Americans are on top when it comes to emerging from the pandemic. Over 25% of our population has been fully vaccinated, as of the date of this article. By July, the projection is Americans will reach the 70% herd immunity threshold as well. If those sky-high hotel rates in Miami are any indication, people are ready to travel. That’s the reward of the vaccine; it’s a chance to return to normal. Remember that? Days of no masks. Last minute flights to Paris for the weekend. Large BBQs and reunions with family. This all sounds good to us. And it looks like Europe will be welcoming Americans again. Yes, the EU said welcome to Americans in Europe.
This past April 23, the European Commission indicated that US travelers, who are fully vaccinated, will be allowed to travel to the continent. The US and Europe will issue guidance shortly, as they work out the mechanics. Our advice is to guard your vaccination cards with your life. Take additional photos and have a print out, just in case. That vaccination card may be as valuable as your passport to see the world this summer. After all, that may be the key to Americans in Europe again.
While we await the details, we suggest planning a trip to Paris. Or Greece. Or Croatia. The world will be your oyster again soon.
