Aman Opens in NYC

It’s official: New York City’s most luxurious and exclusive hotel has arrived. No surprise that it’s the flagship property of Aman, whose hotels have created  “Aman Junkies,” For junkies, it’s essentially a “Have Aman? Will travel” situation. Well Aman junkies, here’s reason one million and one to come to New York City. This way for the first look at Aman New York.

Aman New York Arrives

Aman indisputably defines luxury, and places itself in the most glamorous cities and most exotic destinations around the world. So it’s about time Aman opened in NYC, and of course this is now the most luxurious hotel in New York. And this isn’t luxury with a qualifier like “by New York hotel standards.” New York, sadly, is generally abysmal with its hotel offerings. We mean luxury by Aman standards. If you’ve stayed at an Aman, you know what we mean.

The Basic Rule for Real Estate Investments is…

As they say, real estate is location, location, location. After a multi-year renovation of the iconic Crown Building on Fifth Avenue, and $1.45 billion later, it’s clear that these guys weren’t messing around. The Aman New York project is one of the most expensive hotel residence projects in the city’s history, if not the most expensive. The word Aman, derived from Sanskrit, means peace. And that’s just what you get in heart of bustling New York, in any of the hotel’s 83 suites. The room design is signature Aman Zen inspired by Japanese open-floor living, augmented with creature comforts like heated bathroom floors and big-city views. Oh, and each room has its own fireplace. Mic drop.

The New Center of the Social Scene

So yes, we now officially have a luxury hotel option to offer our out-of-town guests when they’re visiting NYC. However, it’s not only about a comfortable place to lay your head. When you get hungry, book a table at the top of the NYC food. Aman New York has two restaurants: Arva for Italian dining, and Nama, a Washoku Japanese restaurant and Omakase bar. The juxtaposition of the restaurant concepts align with Aman’s East-meets-West duality. Hotels were rarely the center of social life in NYC the way they were in London and Hong Kong. With the arrival of Aman New York, the social scene may just shift.

For drinks and bites, the Garden Terrace is the place to be, especially when we’re all back to the office this fall. The Terrace wraps around the 14th floor with views of the city and Central Park. Aman New York hedged its bets with waterfalls and fire pits throughout the terrace to manage our changing seasons. This means that the Terrace offers a rarity for New York: year-round al-fresco dining.

If you’re into the late night scene, Aman New York has a subterranean jazz club with live music nightly. It’s a welcome addition to spots like Bemelmans and The Nines for a civilized night out. Count on creative mixology and you have Aman’s cool take on the quintessential speakeasy. So yes, there’s finally a good spot to go for after-dinner drinks in Midtown.

Currently the restaurants and Garden Terrace are only open to Aman hotel guests and those with the coveted keys to the Aman Club. But more on that later. The jazz club, however, is open to the public.

The Aman Club

There’s something money can’t buy, and it’s a membership to the Aman Club. Of course there is an initiation fee, and annual dues that break the six-figure mark. But just because you have the coin, which virtually everyone at your private school does, that doesn’t guarantee you a spot. If you’re lucky enough to be accepted, you’ll have access to two club lounges, a private garden terrace, a cigar lounge, and a wine room. And to get to your next question: The membership list is already full. With NYC boasting only a handful of worthwhile members-only clubs, this comes as no surprise.

FAQ’s

Largest urban sanctuary in New York:

The vast Aman Spa is spread over three floors, with a 66-foot indoor pool, 10 treatment rooms, state-of-the art fitness facilities, and two spa houses. These private spa houses are a first for the city, rivaling the “cream of the crop” of luxury spas. This means spacious double-treatment rooms, and sauna and steam rooms with hot and cold plunge pools. There’s also an outdoor terrace with cabanas, daybeds, and a fireplace. The spa arguably has the most prime real estate of the entire Aman New York building.

First hotel to house an Aman Club:

The exclusive, members-only features accentuate the Aman lifestyle with excellent curated programming and immersive experiences.

Host to the brand’s first urban Aman-branded residences:

22 private homes are located on the hotel’s upper floors. They are an unmatched address and represent a unique way of Aman living — in environments that are understated, elegant, and architecturally superior.
