Bali’s serene paradise is the escape frequent travelers dream about. The natural beauty, thrilling excursions and diverse cultural experiences are enough to attract any adventurer. But sometimes, going slightly off the beaten path, isn’t so bad. That’s what growing ultra-luxury resort chain Nihi is trying to do with its global expansion to hidden gems worldwide.
Nihi has kicked off its expansion in and outside of Indonesia. Renowned for its Nihi Sumba, the Nihi resorts chain is bringing its upscale accommodations to Rote Island and Pulau Bangkau in Indonesia, as well as Santo Tomàs in Costa Rica by 2026.
Nihi Rote
Similar to Nihi Sumba, the Rote resort is just a two-hour flight from Bali and Jakarta. Preparations for its major debut have already begun with the opening of the Nihi Rote Hospitality Academy to train budding hospitality professionals on-site. Guests can expect top-tier services once the resorts’ doors officially open, like those Nihi Sumba is known for. Once they do, you can stay in one of 25 thatched-roof private villas and treehouses with your own pool. Think paddle boarding in crystal blue waters at Bo’a Beach in the morning and settling into a massage in a tropical garden afterwards.
Nihi Flores
The Flores location is expected to arrive soon after. Nihi Flores will debut in Pulau Bangkau, which is a three-hour flight from Bali. You will be able to stay in one of 30 overwater villas, similar to those the Maldives made famous. Situated near Komodo and East Nusa Tenggara, you can indulge in activities like snorkeling, diving, hiking and — most importantly — seeing wild Komodo dragons.
Nihi Santo Tomàs
The Americas are no longer left out of this action-packed adventure. Nihi is bringing its luxury resort to Costa Rica in 2025. Its lavish style with Indonesian flare and attentive hospitality will make its mark just under a three-hour flight from Miami. American guests will be able to join in the fun at the chain’s first resort outside of Indonesia. With the help of notable South American architect Ronald Zürcher, Nihi is sure to infuse the Santo Tomàs location’s design with Costa Rican and Indonesian culture, and natural history.
