Top Spots This Week to Order Delivery in NYC
Signs of life are starting to appear in NYC. The heavies like Jean-Georges’ Nougatine, Kurt Gutenbrunner’s Wallsé and eponymous Masa (which is doing an $800 takeout box) are back. And some of these acclaimed chefs are actually cooking the meals themselves. NYC, we love you.
The Restaurant: Nougatine
Jean-Georges is bringing it, no holds barred, with the Nougatine menu. They have a few favorites that we’ve had in the restaurant, as well as some inspiration from The Mark and Eden Rock in St. Barths, like our favorite crispy salmon sushi, warm shrimp salad, roasted lobster and corn, and a 28-day dry-aged ribeye for two. The other restaurants in the JG empire are also reopening for takeout and delivery, like JoJo and abcV.
The Restaurant: Wallsé
We’ve been stalking their Instagram and saw that Chef Kurt Gutenbrunner was in the kitchen, cooking meals himself, at least for the first few days back. We actually placed the very first takeout order when Wallsé kicked off delivery a few weeks ago, and we almost cried the food was just so good. The halibut with fava beans and wild mushrooms, the spätzle that we ordered times two, and the trout palatschinken reminded us why we love to eat in NYC restaurants. The food traveled well, too, even with the extra hour it took the messenger we sent to pick up our food since we’re out of the delivery zone.
The Restaurant: Masa
We saw through the wires back in April that, every Friday, Masa would offer 20 lucky ducks an $800 omakase menu that serves four. For those good at math, that is a bargain price of $200 per person, which is, in all seriousness, a discount from eating at the rarified sushi counter space in the Time Warner Center. There’s little information on their website as to whether or not this continues, but for those with the palate and pocket, we’re betting one of those coveted spots will be at minimum an experience worthy of taking out.
