A Foundation to Support Women and Children
The Kering Foundation was established 15 years ago to eradicate gender-based violence. They partner with organizations to support women impacted by violence through educational programs with youth and supporting survivor-centered services. Recently they added the scope of their work to extend to children. While the Kering Foundation is honorably one of many organizations that support women impacted by violence, this one is extra special. Their founder is François-Henri Pinault, sometimes known as Salma Hayek’s husband. However, he is always known as the billionaire Chairman of Kering. You may not know Kering offhand by name, but you certainly know Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci, and Balenciaga. So it’s no surprise that you would spot Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez at Caring for Women, their annual black-tie gala.
The Annual Caring for Women Gala
With a pedigree like the Pinault family and Oscar-nominated Salma Hayek, when they invite you to a party, you show up. Besides Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez at Caring for Women, other guests included Oprah, Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom, and Leonardo DiCaprio. The event, which started three years ago, was held in one of the ritziest places in New York City – The Pool at The Grill. There are few places in the city that epitomize New York more. Mario Carbone, one of the partners of Major Food Group that runs The Grill, was on hand with his new fiancé, Cait Bailey. It’s not quite clear yet how much was raised at the Caring for Women Gala. However, past galas have brought in over $3 million to support abused women. As part of this year’s gala, Kim Kardashian and Lauren Sanchez at Caring for Women each added $175,000 to the till. During the live auction, they both bid on a Balenciaga Couture Experience. When another bidder jumped in, the organization decided to offer the coveted package to all three. It helps when the big boss is on hand to give the OK. After all, it does all go to a good cause.
