Like many other fashion house titans, Italian luxury brand Prada isn’t confining itself to the realm of fashion any longer – it’s branching out into the hospitality industry. And because it’s Prada, it’s not just any kind of hospitality. Of course, it’s as upscale as it gets: luxury cafés.
Prada Cafés on Three Continents
Since March 31, 2023, Prada has operated a chic café, the Prada Caffè, in Harrods, London’s most iconic department store. While the café was scheduled to close in April 2025, it will now stay open until at least February 2026. But that’s not all. The success of Prada’s London venture has bolstered the brand into opening another café earlier this year. Almost identical to the first one, this Prada Caffè is located in Singapore’s premium shopping mall Ion Orchard. And why stop here? Prada is now planning to open its first café in North America at a prime location in New York City.
Prada Caffè in New York City
Rumor has it, Prada plans to open its New York café in SoHo. Supposedly, the plan is to take over the premises of the upscale fish restaurant Lure Fishbar at 142 Mercer Street and Prince Street. And this makes sense, as one of the iconic Prada locations in Manhattan is right in SoHo, at 575 Broadway, next door to Lure Fishbar.
And it’s not just Prada. Just a few months ago, in November 2024, Louis Vuitton opened its own elegant café on the fourth floor of the Louis Vuitton 57th Street store. Now, this is a trend we can get behind.
Prada Caffè Decor and Offerings
The London Prada Caffè and its Singaporean equivalent look extremely similar, so we can probably expect the same of the New York City iteration. From the floral bas-reliefs walls to the counters, shelves, banquettes, and chairs, Prada cafés are dominated by a relaxing seafoam green color. But not everything is monochromatic; the black-and-white chequered floors add a touch of retro extravagance to the space, and break the sensation of being in an underwater world (in the best way).
Tableware is simple but elegant. We’re talking crystal glasses and Japanese porcelain plates, all exclusive to the brand.
Prada cafés are open throughout the day. The menus differ slightly from location to location, but they all feature mostly Italian specialties. Think a vast range of beautiful pastries and cakes, confectionaries, coffees and teas, cocktails, soft drinks, wines, and savory items. The prices, are of course, as is to be expected from Prada — they know what they’re worth. We don’t know the exact menu of the NYC location yet, but we can infer from the London and Singapore locations that it will be worth the wait.
