Today we Galavante to the Atacama Desert in Chile, the second most visited place in this impressive country. I had never heard of the Atacama Desert, until I was reminded that is was the site of the miraculous recovery of the Chilean miners trapped beneath the earth. Quite honestly, I never thought this would be a destination for me, but this was one of the most extraordinary places I’ve ever been.
After Easter Island, I jetted over to Explora’s sister property in the Atacama. I was with my partners in crime, Franziska and Zoe, who could not have been more perfect travel partners in crime. When we arrived in the Atacama, we were not disappointed. Once again, we experienced eco-adventure with the comforts of a gorgeous resort. I became quite spoiled with the beyond comfortable beds and gourmet food for every meal. The excursions here were extraordinary; I never knew a desert could have active volcanos and water as clear as the Caribbean. I pushed myself in ways I didn’t know possible, and won’t forget running down the sand dunes in the desert in one of the most picture perfect settings in the world. I’ve seen a lot of sunsets, but the one in the Atacama was just unforgettable. This is a place to put on your lifetime trips.
All the Best,
