Planning a trip to the Bordeaux wine region is tricky. There are so many wineries, estates, and castles to check out that it quickly becomes overwhelming to make a choice as to which ones to visit and where to stay. We can help. Let us make your trip a little more manageable by recommending a wine estate that is very much worth the detour: Maison Dubreuil. This under-the-radar wine destination, with its recently restored farmhouse, is one of the best-kept secrets in the area. You want good wine, a gorgeous traditional house, a private chef, peace and a total immersion in the world of Bordeaux wine? This is the place to hit.
Maison Dubreuil: A Wine And Hospitality Success Story

When it started in 1997, Clos Dubreuil only had one three-acre plot of vines – not much to go on. But because that plot of wine was in the famous Saint-Émilion wine-growing area, the estate had the potential to make a name for itself. And when it was purchased by Ralph Eads in 2006, it did exactly that. Eads’ mission was to transform it into one of the topmost wine estates in the world, and it’s fair to say that he’s fulfilled his ambition. Today, Clos Dubreuil has 18 acres of vines over 11 plots, and their signature wine is the Clos Dubreuil, a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc that is classified as a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé. If you don’t speak wine, let us translate: this is some really good red.
But there’s more to the Dubreuil brand than wine. In 2023, Clos Dubreuil opened Maison Dubreuil, a beautifully restored traditional farmhouse set among the vineyard. And because you need a place where to try out all this delicious, award-winning wine, Maison Dubreuil makes for the perfect pied-à-terre.
