The Six Senses Family Retreat

Michaela Atiae, Staff Writer

Six Senses Crans montagne

The family that plays together, stays together. And a luxury retreat in the Swiss mountains is an embodiment of “as the saying goes.” In the stunning town of Crans Montana is a wellness retreat for families of all ages. Six Senses Crans-Montana will host a five-day family retreat (The Boundless Family Retreat) with Ben Greenfield, from May 28th until June 1st. You can experience a sleepaway camp for the whole family at a five-star hotel. It’s a way to maintain the usual fun of a family vacation while teaching the kids mindfulness and healthy habits. So, pack your bags and some athletic sneakers, and give the babysitter a day off, because you’re heading to Crans.

Family Fun

We’re not kidding when we say the experience is sleepaway camp-esque. You’ll meet other families during group dinners, go on stargazing expeditions, and there’s even a sing-along where you can howl to your heart’s content. If singing isn’t your forte, the surrounding mountains will keep your secret safe.

The Nitty-Gritty

While leisurely activities allow for resetting, the real work happens between these moments. With the help of longevity expert Ben Greenfield, a blend of healthful nutrition practices, exercise, and spiritual strategies will be something the family can not only share at the retreat, but continue to practice at home. Having a buddy to hold you accountable is always helpful; having live-in partners will make it even easier.

Greenfield is an influencer, speaker, and New York Times bestselling author in the biohacking sector. He also coaches and trains around the world, and this summer, you’ll be able to learn from his expertise during activities like morning yoga and meditation, mindfulness talks, an Alchemy Bar workshop, breathwork, and cold plunges.

The Hotel Stay

Accommodation

During your stay, you’ll be in a Superior Terrace Room. Downtime from the program calls for time in your private walk-in rain shower, or coffee on the outdoor deck to put your mindfulness lessons to the test. The room features a double vanity, soaking tub, and high ceilings. But the smaller details, like a yoga mat, pillow service (because your beauty sleep is equally important for your health), and a bar filled with local snacks, make it near impossible to mess up your new regime.

Food

All of the program’s menus are pre-set, but this doesn’t mean you’re shunned from the hotel’s restaurant seating (because, let’s face it, half the fun of the meal is the ambiance). You can dine in the grand Wild Cabin or in the more sultry, jewel-toned Japanese restaurant, Byakko.

Spa and Wellness

During your stay, the retreat allots time for the wellness facilities. The spa at Six Senses Crans-Montana is about 2,000 square feet, with a large pool that expands into the courtyard. The rooftop has another swimming pool, an Alpine garden, and an open-air cinema. If you’re seeking a child-free moment, a children’s spa will keep the kids occupied with child-friendly variations of treatments. Getting the kids to leave will be difficult between the massages, four separate style saunas, biohacking smart tech, and alchemy lessons (where you’ll make your own washes).
