No Kids Allowed on Emirates First Class

Morgane Croissant, Staff Writer

Flying with young children can be a lively experience. Their natural energy and curiosity can sometimes lead to moments of noise, or movement that can be (dare we say?) challenging in the confined space of an airplane. Of course, we understand that this is a beautiful aspect of their developing young minds. But, some airlines are exploring ways to create quieter environments for those seeking a more serene journey. Did Emirates really ban kids from First Class cabins? Of course not. But, they did introduce a policy that restricts children from first-class cabins when redeeming Emirates Skywards miles.

Emirates First Class

Emirates’ famous first class cabin is one of the most luxury in the sky. Think private suites with a large, lie-flat leather seat, a huge screen for all your entertainment needs, a mini bar, fine dining, unlimited Champagne and caviar, and more. Depending on the kind of planes you fly, you might even have access to an onboard shower spa and a lounge bar. Needless to say that flying first class with Emirates is a very special experience that comes with a high price tag. So, it tracks that Emirates are going the extra mile (no pun intended) to maintain utmost serenity in the cabin.

Emirates New Policy For Kids in First Class

Of course, Emirates isn’t banning kids altogether from First Class. Instead, they are banning kids aged eight or younger to access the first-class cabin if the booking has been done by redeeming miles. As it stands, if you pay cash for your kiddos to enjoy a first-class experience on Emirates, your children are welcome.

Naturally, this “ban” has sparked mixed reactions. Some travelers welcomed the move. Many view it as a step towards quieter, more restful experience on long-haul flights. Others, however, criticized the policy as exclusionary. Many argue that it unfairly penalizes families and reinforces negative stereotypes about children. After all, there are even children who behave better and more respectfully than some adults.
