A new waterside address is arriving just 30 minutes from Copenhagen: Rox Resort is set to open on November 1, 2025, right at the edge of Køge Bay. With 158 rooms, rooftop pools and steaks with a serious attitude, it’s gearing up to be an incredible coastal getaway. That’s right — in Scandinavia.
About
Rox is the latest creation from the ESS Group, who simply don’t believe in boring. This crew is behind some of Sweden and Denmark’s most personality-packed hotels, and Rox follows suit with interiors that flirt with old-school European elegance. This one’s got a bit of a thing for 1920s-30s European style—there’s brass, hammered glass, leafy plants doing their casual “I woke up like this” routine, and rich colors that feel more Milan townhouse than Danish coastline. But it works. There’s an easy confidence to it all.
Accommodation
There are 158 rooms and 6 suites, and a lot of them come with their own balcony. You’ll find dark timber underfoot, soft lighting overhead, and colors that feel grown-up but not stiff. Some rooms lean into moody reds, others into cool greens, but all of them have that lovely clean-dressed-to-impress energy. The kind of space where you could curl up for a nap.
Wellness
Let’s talk about the Pool Club & Spa. It’s on the roof. There are three heated pools. A sauna. A gym. A view of the sea that’ll make your phone forget what emails are. You can grab a cocktail from The Dumpling Bar in your swimsuit, then flop back on a lounger without anyone judging you. There’s an indoor bit too, with another pool and quieter corners.
Food + Drink
SMITH will be the headline act here. It calls itself a “dirty Sichuan steakhouse,” which is basically code for big, juicy steaks, Sichuan heat, raw bar snacks, and a room full of candlelight and shadowy corners. There’s also The Dumpling Bar, which does exactly what it says, and Birdcage, a cocktail spot made for late nights with dim lighting.
What else?
If you’re the kind of person who needs to squeeze in a little work, Rox will have you covered. There are eight meeting rooms, ranging from sharp little strategy caves to a full-on 200-person setup. When it’s time to log off, you’ve got padel courts, a football pitch, boules in the courtyard, and a garden. Valet parking and concierge service are also in play—so if you forget your charger, someone will probably appear with it before you even notice. So, as we count down to a November debut, you can start planning your seaside escape—Rox is ready to show us how Denmark does oceanfront elegance.
