The One&Only escapism brand has some of the most stunning locales in the world. They’ve conquered the Maldives, Los Cabos, Rwanda – what haven’t they done, you may ask? Well, until this fall, the answer is: the United States. So, this fall, the exclusive resort collection will keep the streak alive with the addition of its first United States destination: One&Only Moonlight Basin in Montana.
Location
Each One&Only resort is a one-of-a-kind celebration of its own unique region. This Big Sky Country outpost is no exception. Nestled within a rugged 8,100-acre landscape, encircled by iconic mountain ranges, this premier alpine retreat lets wilderness lead the way. It provides unequaled access to pristine ski slopes, sunlit hiking trails, outdoor adventures, and maybe a grizzly sighting or two. The resort was built in harmony with countless animal inhabitants, so don’t be surprised if all creatures, great and small, cross your path. (All adventure experiences are led by naturalist experts who provide instructions for such encounters.)
Accommodation
There are 73 guest rooms and suites and 19 guest cabins – you’re not stuck for choice. Most have crackling fireplaces, deep soaking tubs, balconies and breathtaking vistas. Moonlight family suites and rooms have space for your whole crew, with interconnecting rooms. (The suites offer communal spaces.) And the Big Sky Suite is ideal for larger groups, fitting ten around its massive dining table. For even more space and privacy, choose between 4, 5 or 6-bedroom multistory homes. You’ll have access to the entire resort, and the services of a personal host.
Amenities
Nature’s varied, all-season charms make this a desired destination no matter the weather. In the winter, you’ll enjoy direct ski resort access via the private One&Only Moonlight Basin Gondola. In warmer months, find yourself lounging near a glassy alpine lake, or on a cushy chaise-lounge near the outdoor pool. And snow or shine, the resort’s spa provides further indulgence within its seven treatment rooms, sauna and steam facilities, fitness center, and indoor pool that opens to blue sky when the sun is out.
Food + Drink
The resort’s six restaurants and bars include the eponymously-named Akira Back. They serve modern Japanese cuisine from the Michelin-starred chef, who fittingly is a former professional snowboarder. Wildwood, in the Main Lodge is your spot for breakfast, lunch, dinner. Après ski is best enjoyed at the Dear Josephine Lounge (named in homage to a local enterprising bootlegger) and within Moon Shack, a speakeasy-style retreat hidden with the fragrant pine forest, serving fine whiskies and crafted cocktails. And for elevated dining (in more ways than one), take the gondola to The Landing for fine dining served with panoramic Big Sky views.
