One&Only Kéa Island Opens

Michaela Atiae, Staff Writer

Greece is one of the OG’s for your European summer wishlist, and that’s for a good reason. Between clear Mediterranean waters and ingredients that make your skin glow through your diet, the Greeks know what’s up.  What’s not so desirable are the crowds because chances are, the islands you hear most about are also the most frequented. That’s where Kéa Island comes in, specifically One&Only Kéa Island for our chic crowd trying to regain serenity. The new Greek luxury resort opened in May and offers exclusive deals to its first guests this summer.

Location

Kéa is where Athenians went for their hidden holiday getaways, which makes sense when you’re only a 45-minute boat ride away. If you’re a travel by air rather than sea type, a 15 minute helicopter ride cuts the time into a third. You can surround yourself with sea views and seamlessly return to civilization once you’ve got your proper R&R.

Stay

You can pick from one of the 75 villas; they all come with open-concept living and dining areas, marble bathrooms, and a private pool and terrace. The design focuses on local stone, wood, and marble to tie into the Island theme. That means, creams and sea blues to match. Choosing a one-bedroom (75 sqm) or two-bedroom villa (180 sqm) depends on how much space and what view you want. You can select a hillside view, sea view, or wrap-around sea view, so it’s impossible to make a wrong choice.

Dining

At One&Only Kéa Island, there are more bars than restaurants and we’re not complaining. Kosmos Lobby Bar is at the center of the resort and has open-air atrium seating. If you’re feeling more of a lounge by the pool vibe, Kaiki Pool Bar has you covered. Is wine your signature drink? You can attend a communal wine and cheese tasting at Èpicora Wine Bar, and if you’re trying to escape the rest of your party for some solitude (we’ve all been there), Incognito Speakeasy Bar is that place. Behind an unmarked door, you can choose from rare rums and whiskies and pair them with a Cuban cigar to blow off some steam- literally.

As for food, Atria is all about local produce. The fish comes straight from the Kéa’s waters, and the herbs and meats are local. You can eat inside the dining room or on the terrace, where you sit amongst olive trees and try dishes like Tuna Tartar Tacos or Lobster Giouvetsi For Two. Bond Beach Club is option two, with Mediterranean Asian Fusion and a resident DJ if you’re looking for a party.

Wellness

One&Only Spa offers hydrotherapy, aromatherapy, and a hair salon for a total makeover—waxing and spray tan included—so there’s no rush to do it all before the vacation. Group workouts like CrossFit and Core Strength are also available because sometimes you need an instructor to keep you accountable. Did we mention the sea-view yoga pavilion and mani and pedi station?  By all accounts their spa and fitness program will be a draw for the One&Only Kea.
