There’s a new design hotel opening in Greece and it’s not in Athens, Mykonos, or Santorini. It’s in Arcadia, and they couldn’t have picked a more idyllic setting. This historic region is in the central part of the Peloponnese peninsula. Arcadia is famous for its natural beauty consisting of mountain valleys, crystal clear rivers, and lush forests. The landscape has served as inspiration for many legends that have gone on to become an important part of Greek culture. The new Manna Hotel synthesizes these influences for its design. Here’s a first look at what’s to come.
The Hotel
The Manna Hotel will open in the second quarter of 2023. The new hotel is set in an abandoned sanatorium that has been listed as a preserved site for its unique architecture and beauty. Originally built in 1929, the building is 1,200 meters above sea level and surrounded by the fir forest of Mount Mainalo. There will be thirty-two rooms that include views of the landscape and luxury amenities. Additionally, there will be a lounge, library, dining room, bar, and spa. Booking benefits include a healthy homemade breakfast, a welcome drink, and a ten percent discount at the spa.
The Architecture
The Manna Hotel is designed by the award-winning K-Studio, a well-respected architecture and design firm based in Athens. They specialize in high-end residential and commercial properties with a focus on functionality, sustainability, and aesthetics. The design of this new hotel will respect the original architecture and the region’s historic past while reinterpreting Arcadia for today.
The Design
This building itself has a neoclassical feel, with gray limestone that compliments the wood and mosaic floors. Taking inspiration from the mountains, the interior will have a rustic atmosphere including materials like wood, rattan, wool, linen, and velvet. In addition, the cooper taps and tubs, rattan ceiling, and wooden window frames will add to the warm earth palette.
The combination of its notable design and lush landscape makes the new Manna Hotel one to watch.
