Hôtel Barrière Comes to St Barths

barriere1

What do you get when you combine the total relaxation of the Caribbean with 5-star luxury service? A little glimpse of heaven, of course. And this December, those pearly gates are opening in St. Barths.

New on the scene in an old location is the Hôtel Barrière, Le Carl Gustaf. Hôtel Barrière may sound familiar, because it is; it’s the same as the famed property on the Croisette in Cannes. Yes that one, which during the Cannes Film Festival has welcomed Robert De Niro, Matthew McConaughey, and these are just a few of the A-listers who frequent Barrière. You can book any one of their twenty-three suites or bungalows for a week complete with outdoor sea-view balconies, private pools, and jacuzzis.

As expected, the hotel’s culinary program will be tops. As in the original in Cannes, there will be a Fouquet’s, and unique to the local Barriere is Shellona. Shellona is a Mediterranean-Caribbean fusion of Greek master chef Yannis Kioroglou, which bridges together recipes that we didn’t even know were possible (we’re talking coconut milk-infused mahi-mahi fish). And, this all takes place on the beach.

After all the rose drinking and dancing on tables, the hotel has their own zen-inspired Dianne Spa. Think perfectly-tailored massages and holistic and private yoga lessons overlooking a sunset. Essentially, all in a day’s work in St. Barths.
