No matter how much you travel for work, chances are you are cooling your jets at home, and social distancing with the best of them. At heart though, you’re a road warrior, and you’ve worked hard for your airline status. Luckily, Delta totally gets it.
Ed Bastian, the CEO of Delta, recently sent a letter to all Medallion members letting us know, they’ve got us covered. Effectively, Delta is hitting a pause on 2020, and giving everyone a do-over in 2021. Regardless of whether or not you make status this year (and it’s looking like not for most) Delta is granting everyone the same status for 2021. Additionally, the coveted MQMs, which determine your status on Delta, will be rolled over to 2021.
A few other goodies in the email include:
· Delta Sky Club access: As a Sky Club Member, you’ll receive an additional six months membership at no charge.
· Skymiles members with upgrade certificates and $200 travel vouchers will get more time to cash those in for travel.
· Delta SkyMiles American Express Card Holdings will get extended time to use their Companion Certificates and $100 Delta flight credits.
For any tickets you currently have purchased, you can rebook travel for up to two years, without any change fees. The Department of Transportation has recently announced they are requiring airlines to refund tickets for cancelled flights, but Delta is banking on loyalty to reschedule. If there’s an airline that should come out of this pandemic, Delta is tops of our list.
