A new Corinthia is always exciting. This brand always has our attention. But especially now, when they’ve taken over a 19th-century protected landmark in the heart of Bucharest. We’re already packing our bags.
History
If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to stay in a palace without actually being royalty, Corinthia Bucharest is your answer. It is set in a Belle Époque national landmark, first opened in 1873 as the famous Grand Hotel du Boulevard. So naturally, over the years, it has seen a lot—from emperors and ambassadors to blackout curtains and Wi-Fi. It was the first in the city to have electric lights, an elevator, and water supply in every room. And now it’s back (and with many more amenities than that). In March 2025, after a top-to-toe renovation, Corinthia revived its legacy by opening the doors again, under the name Corinthia Grand Hotel du Boulevard.
Details
This place is pure cinematic opulence: sweeping staircases, grand chandeliers, velvet everything. But don’t let the 19th-century vibes fool you—there’s modern comfort tucked in every corner. There are only 30 suites, so the service feels more like a private club than a mega-hotel. No room numbers shouted down the hall, no breakfast buffet stampede. Just quiet, confident elegance.
Rooms
The suites are what you’d expect if you mixed a Parisian pied-à-terre with a tech billionaire’s sense of lighting. High ceilings, custom furniture, hand-painted gold foil canvases, beds you’ll struggle to leave, and bathrooms with enough marble to host an opera. You can (and should) pad around in sumptuous slippers with a Negroni in hand and feel completely at home. And if you’re on a workation, opt for the signature suite. There, you can enjoy a private library that doubles as an office—it’s a secluded space, framed by artful design.
Wellness
If you need a reset, the spa’s got your number. There are two treatment rooms, a sauna, steam room, and even an ice fountain. The treatments are inspired by the rolling hills and wild meadows of Romania, with a focus on Wildflower Essence. Make sure to try their signature experience—Corinthia Time—which is a tailor-made treatment to help you reclaim your rhythm. There’s also a gym, in case you want to “balance” the room service tiramisu. Treatments use products like 111SKIN, so you can float out of there looking like someone who does yoga and owns land.
Food + Drink
This is where things get fun. Boulevard 73 is the main restaurant, open for breakfast and lunch, and it’s housed in an Art Nouveau ballroom. The food is a fresh take on Romanian and French classics—think truffle polenta, juicy duck, and a wine list that might ruin you for regular wine lists. There’s also Sass’—a glam little spot imported straight from Monaco, where the vibe is dress-to-be-seen and the martinis are dangerous. And if you need something low-key, The Heritage Bar serves cocktails and small bites all day. Of course, you can always choose the in-suite dining, where your suite is transformed into a private dining haven. It’s five-star service, delivered to your door like it’s no big deal (but it totally is).
