Belmond, the brand behind the world-famous Venice-Simplon Orient-Express, is launching a new luxury sleeper train. And Belmond knows a thing or two about making train travel as lavish as possible. The brand already operates six luxury trains, including the very swanky Royal Scotsman in Scotland, and the elegant British Pullman in England. The Britannic Explorer will be the icing on an already-delicious cake and we can’t wait to get a taste. The Britannic Explorer is set to hit the tracks in July 2025 to take travelers around England and Wales in the utmost comfort. And if the few preview images available are anything to go by, this train is going to be one very chic ride, indeed.

Amenities

The Britannic Explorer consists of 18 cabins: 15 suites (some with a double bed, some with twin beds), and 3 Grand Suites. The Grand Suites are the most spacious, with a separate bedroom and living space. All cabins include an en-suite bathroom. The cabins’ decor is inspired by the British countryside and coastline, with soft colors and delicate motifs meant to blur the line between the outdoors and the indoors.

There are two restaurant cars on board: Malva and Samphire. The ever-changing breakfast, lunch, dinner, and afternoon tea menus have been curated by the acclaimed British chef Simon Rogan. In other words, you’ll eat very, very well on board the Britannic Explorer.

The Britannic Explorer is also the first train in England and Wales to have a spa car. Travelers will be able to enjoy botanical treatments such as facials, massages, and more.

Itineraries

There are three three-night itineraries on offer: Wales, the Lake District, and Cornwall. All itineraries start from London Victoria Station. It is possible for travelers to combine two routes to spend six nights on board this magnificent train. Because, let’s face it, three nights in the lap of luxury isn’t enough (no amount of time is, really).

The Cost

A three-night journey in a Grand Suite starts at £15,300 ($19,770) per passenger. The same trip in a suite starts at £6,300 ($8,140) per passenger. Six-night itineraries start at £12,600 ($16,025) per passenger in a twin suite. The price listed includes meals, drinks, and excursions. While the train will start operating in early July 2025, bookings are already open.
