Since the opening of Aman Amanpuri in Thailand in 1988, the Aman Resorts group has garnered a cult following among high-end travelers. And ‘cult’ really isn’t too strong a word. People who love Aman resorts would rather stay home than vacation anywhere else. And Aman’s fanbase is so loyal and dedicated that in just 35 years, the hospitality group has grown dramatically. There are now 36 Aman resorts in 20 countries. But while there are plenty of Aman properties in Asia, the Americas, and Europe, unfortunately, until now, there’s only been one Aman resort in Africa: Aman Amanjena in Marrakech. Thankfully, it’s all about to change, and Aman-obsessed travelers will soon be able to travel to Sub-Saharan Africa. Aman Resorts is opening a property in Mozambique and we’re here for it.

Aman Karingani

The second Aman resort in Africa will open in Southern Mozambique in the Karingani Game Reserve, close to the border with South Africa. And while there’s no set date for its opening, there’s plenty to get excited about already.

As usual, Aman is keeping it intimate, with 30 individual one-bedroom and two-bedroom guest pavilions on over 350,000 acres of land. For those who need more space, there will also be three- to six-bedroom residences in a more secluded location. In other words, you won’t be bothered by crowds. But again, that’s what Aman does. Aman resorts are renowned for their tranquil, retreat-like vibes.

Of course, it wouldn’t be an Aman resort without perfectly integrated outdoor spaces so you can expect large, private covered decks and private pools. Needless to say that every single one of the accommodations will offer great views of the Mozambican landscape. You might even be able to partake in some wildlife-watching from your pavilion.

While all the accommodations at Aman Karingani will stand alone, guests will be able to access a central lodge where there will be several restaurants, a pool, and an Aman Spa. A swim and a massage after a day of looking for elephants, leopards, and zebras sounds pretty perfect, doesn’t it?

New And Reopening Aman Resorts

While you wait patiently for Aman Karingani to open, plan to go check out some of Aman’s newest and reopening properties. Because there are plenty coming up in the next couple of years that you won’t want to miss.

Aman Amangani in Jackson, Wyoming is reopening in 2026, and Aman Amanvari in Mexico’s Baja Peninsula is opening next year too. Aman Miami Beach and Aman Beverly Hills are both launching in 2027, while resorts in Dubai, Saudi Arabia, the Bahamas, the Maldives, and Singapore are also in the works. Aman-addicted travelers are bound to be very busy in the next few years.
