What’s newly-renovated, overlooking both Nantucket Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, and celebrating its thirtieth anniversary? This May, it’s Nantucket’s Luxury Wauwinet: an inn by the sea that just went through a multimillion-dollar restoration. There’s a reason why visitors from all over the U.S. have always traveled to stay at Nantucket’s only member of the of Relais & Châteaux hotel group.
Before, it was for the backdrop for every conceivable beachside or outdoor activity. Surfing, bike tours, art galleries, fishing, guided lighthouse tours, antique stores (among all other kinds of stores), and every boating activity under the sun. Now you can add The Wauwinet to that list.
Boston-local interior design group Gauthier-Stacy Inc. (renowned for the design of favorite local restaurant, Cru, and the Great Harbor Yacht Club) was commissioned by The Wauwinet to redesign the hotel’s luxury interiors. And redesign they did, with guest rooms newly-furnished and completely reimagined, to set themselves up for the next 30 years. The custom Pratesi by Rivolta linens are a reason alone, along with top to bottom furniture and room design, that make the hotel not just a place to take in the Nantucket scene, but has become the scene itself.
And although both The Wauwinet and Nantucket are year-round Massachusetts attractions, it seems as though the weather now is just about perfect for a road trip.
