New York loves a good members’ club moment, and the next one’s about to land. This November, Moss opens near Bryant Park, delivering five floors of culture and cardio. The five-story haven is equal parts conversation salon, fitness sanctuary, and cocktail-fueled playground. In other words: Midtown, but make it interesting.
The space at 520 Fifth Avenue is nothing short of theatrical. Vicky Charles (formerly of Soho House fame) led the design, infusing each room with that mix of cozy and cosmopolitan she’s known for. She practically invented modern club chic. Her touch is understated luxury with just enough grandeur to make you feel like you’re part of something special. It’s a little bit theater, a little bit townhouse, and a lot of mood.
The Location
Moss makes its home at the intersection of classic and cool: Bryant Park out front, Grand Central and Rockefeller Center nearby, and the New York Public Library just steps away. It’s the beating heart of Midtown, redefined for people who swore they’d never hang out in Midtown again. Moss is envisioned as the perfect pause button — an oasis where New Yorkers can exhale before braving the subway or catching the train home.
The Concept
The founders, Colleen and Hailey Brooks, call Moss a “home away from home.” Except this home comes with a hammam, a cold plunge, and a corner bar with skyline views. The idea is “intelligent leisure” — thoughtful programming that makes you feel smarter while you sip something strong. It’s where you can discuss art theory one minute and hit the pickleball court or the bar the next. Expect art exhibitions, live music, salons that sound like grad school lectures but are much more fun, and supper clubs that might actually justify staying in Midtown after dark.
The Layout
Upstairs, Moss sprawls over 20,000 square feet of dining and social space, with four distinct venues. The second floor houses The Dining Room & Club — a restaurant, a corner bar with Fifth Avenue views, communal tables, and an intimate piano lounge where you can swap your emails for espresso martinis.
The Symposium, one floor up, channels the golden age of New York salons. Picture a vinyl listening lounge, cocktail bar, billiards room, and five private dining spaces for everything from power lunches to impromptu dinner parties.
The Scene
By day, Moss is civilized. Grab the corner table for your 9 a.m. meeting. By night, it transforms to cocktails and piano. There is even a recording studio upstairs.
Wellness
Then there’s BEDROCK Aquatics & Athletics: 20,000 square feet dedicated to wellness in all its forms. You’ll find high-tech fitness studios, Pilates and golf simulators, a full-size pickleball court, and a spa. We’re talking saunas, hammam, steam rooms, and thermal pools included. For extra credit: IV therapy, facials, and massages await.

Membership
Membership details are still under wraps, but one thing’s certain: Moss is ready to redefine what a New York club can be. Less velvet rope, more open mind. It might just be the one that gets it right: smart, social, and refreshingly self-aware. It’s a place where you can think, move, and toast to doing both well. With Moss joining the likes of Aman Club, ZZ’s, and Maxime’s, New York’s private club boom shows no sign of slowing.
