Somewhere in the middle of the Indian Ocean, in a remote part of the world, there is an even more remote private island. Welcome to the Seychelles, some of the most exclusive islands to vacation in the world. Within the Seychelles, the island of Félicité is about 35 minutes by helicopter away from the mainland and the airport arrival city of Mahe. Once just an abandoned sland, Félicité is now the home to the Six Senses Zil Pasyon. If you’re in the Seychelles, the Six Senses Seychelles this is your new vacation goal for 2021 and beyond.
Why we like it:
There’s something about arriving in a helicopter, where you fly over surreally beautiful, sparsely to uninhabited islands, that sets the tone for your vacation. That pretty much describes the Six Senses Seychelles. As a hotel group, the Six Senses figured out the right formula for the younger, or young at heart, luxury traveler. At the Six Senses Seychelles, they created their own category of luxury. The experience combines a laid-back vibe, wellness focus and modern yet high-end accommodation. The Six Senses hotels are themselves understated luxury, but deeply comfortable retreats. There’s no nightlife on isle, except for the one you make yourself.
At the Six Senses Seychelles, each villa has the highest level of detail and technology, along with cool design elements. They incorporate natural woods with pops of cheerful color, that doesn’t take itself so seriously. The Six Senses Zil Pasyon even has a swing in your bathroom, that overlooks the ocean. Check out our video on Galavante for a tour of a room.
The Service
The service is personalized and encourages you to engage with your destination. When you arrive, you meet your GEM, which stands for Guest Experience Manager. Your GEM is part butler, part psychologist and part chief of staff for your stay. They customizes your entire experience, from, meals, room preferences, activities and pretty much anything you can think up. You have them on speed dial, so there’s never anything go without during the stay. Your GEM will have you exploring, hiking, swimming, snorkeling, biking and beaching all day.
The Food
The Six Senses Zil Pasyon is the place that you can gorge yourself every meal yet leave 5 pounds lighter. You wonder how they have this level of staff and chefs in the middle of nowhere. The food is healthy yet so flavorful and fresh, as it’s all locally sourced. And don’t get us started on those avocados on island, and that fresh fish that was caught by the fisherman that morning.
The Spa
The spas are one of the high points of the Six Senses Zil Pasyon, and this one was an architectural feat to achieve. It’s set within natural rock formations and requires crossing over a Robinson Crusoe-like bridge. Besides the deep analysis, they train the best aestheticians and massage therapists. They can do everything from a relaxing Swedish to holistic practices. They can cure chronic pain and kinks you never though would get worked out.
The Wellness Screening
This is what differentiates the Six Senses from any regular high-end spa. Their signature wellness screening uses the same technology as an echocardiogram to assess your heart and physical health. The nuances the machine will pick up are mind-boggling. From there, the certified doctor will set you on a program to become your best self. We’ve been to Six Senses hotels several years in a row, and they put on the right path to optimal health. The wellness screening allows them to give you a road map for your regular doctors at home. You will leave better than you came. It’s the reason to come to the Seychelles, and get that real time to unplug.
