We’ve said this for years, but Albania is an underrated destination. Clearly, we weren’t the only ones who thought so, as Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner have a major project underway. This one, however, has nothing to do with politics, but rather getting back to Ivanka’s real estate roots. Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner have announced a luxury development in Albania. And it involves Aman.
A Little About Albania
Albania is a country in the Balkans set on the Mediterranean Sea. Its capital city is Tirana. Up until about twenty years ago, Albania was stuck in its Communist era. The history of the past decades in Albania was difficult. During the communist era, the government kept 3 million files on its population of 2 million people. Neighbors informed on neighbors, and people were known to disappear after government interrogations. Due to the effect of that oppression on the people, Albania took longer than other countries within the Soviet Union to evolve.
However, in the past two decades, Albania has flourished. The country is naturally beautiful and covered by mountains, green hills, valleys, and a stunning coast. Up until now, only insiders really knew about the Albanian Riviera. It’s this access to the Ionian and Adriatic parts of the Mediterranean Sea that makes it a prime area for the development of the Ivanka Trump Albania project.
Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump’s Albania Development
Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner acquired a 1400-acre island on the Albanian Riviera. What they plan to do with that island however is going to put Albania on the luxury travel map. Aman, known for its modern aesthetic hotels, will run the hotel. For food, Carbone is officially on the path to world domination as they’ll run the restaurant concept of the new development. This will be the first of Carbone and Aman on the same project. We’re wondering if it will kick off more collaborations between the two groups in the future.
We Think Janu Should be in the Mix
When we heard Carbone was in the mix, we thought that Major Food Group aligned most naturally with Aman’s new hotel group Janu. Janu, in case you haven’t heard, is the younger and more social version of Aman. Social nowadays is how you would describe the Albanians, who know how to party. With all this alignment amongst Carbone, Janu, and Albania, we think there’s a marriage to be had. Only time will tell though how the Ivanka Trump Albania project will evolve.
