Favorite Destination
The Maldives, hands down! I’ve been twice, once for my honeymoon and again just before I found out I was pregnant with my son, so it holds a special place for me. There’s a serenity there that feels like true paradise, matched by genuinely warm hospitality. Flying between islands by seaplane is one of my favorite parts of the trip.
Most Exotic Destination Traveled
Belize. Flying from the main airport to the resort in a tiny plane with just the pilot, watching the water shift color beneath us, is a memory I won’t forget. The cultural mix came through in the food and entertainment and I still think about a tribal dance performance I saw at dinner one night; it was unexpectedly moving.
On My Bucket List
Despite being Indian, I’ve never made it to Mumbai, Goa, Jaipur, or Udaipur. I would love to go to Mumbai for the nightlife, Goa to slow down and pick up some Portuguese, and Jaipur and Udaipur for the architecture and the shopping. I love jewelry, and there’s nowhere better to find gemstones and jewelry that’s really more art than accessory.
Travel Philosophy
You can’t see everything on one trip, and trying to only makes travel stressful instead of immersive. I like befriending locals where appropriate and asking where they’d go, because it makes a trip feel more authentic. Solo travel is amazing, but if you’re lucky enough to have a travel companion, those shared memories are priceless.
