We say: keep these private clubs coming, especially in the wellness space. Remedy Place in the wellness corridor of NYC that won’t give you a fluff massage. Instead, they’re all about digging deep and giving you the kind of wellness boost you didn’t know you needed.
The Start of The First Social Wellness Club
What started as a concierge practice for Dr. Jonathan Leary’s surgery-preventative, holistic care bloomed into a full-blown wellness club franchise. With a doctorate in chiropractic medicine, a proven track record of helping patients avoid invasive surgeries, and a decade of health knowledge, Dr. Leary began conceptualizing a space that would cater to his unconventional approach.
In 2019, Dr. Leary opened Remedy Place in West Hollywood. It doesn’t offer your usual spa menu. Instead, a new generation of wellness treatments takes center stage. Offerings like Lymphatic Compression, and IV Drips has attracted a high-profile clientele. Past celebrity visitors include Rita Ora, Drake, Kacey Musgraves, and a Kardashian or two (if the Kardashians are going, you know it will be a hotspot).
In 2022, Remedy Place made its way to the East Coast, in NYC’s Flatiron neighborhood. New Yorkers in the know quickly snatched up the limited memberships (you can’t blame them in a culturally fast-paced, occasionally overstimulating city). However, Dr. Leary heard the demand for more and opened a bigger and better version in the heart of SoHo this month. This is where you come in: while membership is attainable, you can secure your spot at the sought-after club.
The Philosophy
A holistic approach is number one. But the second piece of Remedy Place’s philosophy is socializing. Dr. Leary explains that wellness journeys are largely dependent on community. Often, your health regime can be an isolating experience, so Remedy Place allows you to create a luxurious hub with your friends where you’re also prioritizing self-care. The social club eliminates the schedule scramble to fit in your massage before meeting up with a friend for drinks. In fact, you can get rid of drinks altogether (or every so often) and see your best friend at the club during sauna time instead. There are curtains throughout the remedy stations to create solitude with the option of opening them up to make your experience social. Combining the two priorities can optimize your well-being because the best medicine is a friend.
Remedies
Remedy Place SoHo spans 7,400 square feet. Walking in, you’re instantly greeted by a signature scent of charred Portuguese biocork, infused with aromatic oils that are repainted throughout the property every hour. The neutral tones throughout put you in a state of ease, which you’ll be grateful for if you get into an ice bath. You can participate in instructed group classes like the Breathwork Ice Bath or Soundbathe Meditation. A sunken living room also adds communal spaces to hang out where you’ll gather with a warm cup of bone broth after class.
Tech and Holistic Practitioners categorize the other remedies. Tech remedies in the SoHo location offer treatments like AI Bodywork (the robot scans your body and saves your pressure preference for the next time), invigorating Cryotherapy—in place of your morning coffee, and a Private Contrast Suite that provides a sauna, ice bath, and showers for parties of up to six. You’ll also find Bottle Service menus throughout the treatment rooms offering water from around the world like volcanic water from Ecuador, iceberg water from Canada, and Amazon air water from Brazil. Holistic practitioners have Chiropractic Movement, 24K Gold Ear Seeds, and Acupuncture + Cupping on the menu.
