Today we Galavante to Easter Island, which is the most remote, inhabited place on earth. When we first started thinking of the Easter Island coverage in October, it was a stretch. I am not naturally an adventure traveler, who is comfortable hiking, climbing and roughing it in nature. However, when I started to think about it more, Easter Island is the perfect place for us to bring to you, our readers at Galavante. Whether you’ve been to one country or 40 countries, this is a fascinating place to visit. And for those who make the journey, a lifetime experience. It certainly was for me, a city girl who landed thinking I was arriving on the island of the TV show Lost.
In Easter Island, I learned to appreciate the simplicity of hiking to a gorgeous vista, and walking through fields where wild horses and cows roamed freely. I’ve become addicted to hiking, and am already conjuring up active Galavantes for us for future features. I also remembered how fun it could be to travel with girlfriends. My partners in crime for this trip were Franziska, who took our gorgeous pictures, and Zoe, who was the spice on adventure. With her, we got to really know the locals in a way we would never have had the chance.
I think that my adventure on Easter Island was so enjoyable because of Explora, which is the premier eco-adventure excursion company in South America. There was no roughing it on this trip; the Explora lodge was one of the most beautiful and certainly most unique places I’ve stayed. Explora spoiled us with our gorgeously prepared, gourmet meals, homemade trail mix and fresh juice after all of our excursions. They set the bar very high – this won’t be my last time at their resorts.
All the Best,
