It used to be that Barbuda was a day-trip destination. For example, for when you were on Mustique, staying at Mick’s villa, and wanted to spread your wings a bit. But, if a destination is special enough for you to leave an island like Mustique, clearly, it’s a place where you could stay longer than an afternoon.

Robert De Niro is developing the Nobu Beach Inn on the Caribbean island of Barbuda, a $250 million, 400-acre luxury project expected to open in late 2026. Located on the southwest coast, this 17-villa resort is part of a larger project, The Beach Club. This club features a Nobu restaurant that has operated on Princess Diana Beach since 2020.
Diana Loved This Beach
In 2011, Cocoa Point Beach got its new name to commemorate what would have been Diana’s 50th birthday. A favorite hideaway with her two sons in tow, the late princess loved to escape here. Quiet solitude, pink-ish white sand, and turquoise water make this a serene retreat.
Nobu and the Vision

Since his first visit 30 years ago, De Niro fell hard for Barbuda. He’s been a highly involved Nobu partner and visionary, shaping growth from just one Tribeca location to a global group of 50-plus luxury hotels, residences, and restaurants.
Nobu Suites & Villas, inspired by Japanese design and understated “Nobu style,” are found in 18 select global locations (so far). Wherever you find Nobu, you’re sure to find food worth traveling for. Even better, check in and stay awhile.
“Dine with us. Live with us,” Nobu touts. Since the first Nobu residence in Los Cabos opened three years ago, there have been almost two dozen additional residential projects announced; several more are still “coming soon.” De Niro’s partners for the Nobu Beach Inn development are Australian investor James Packer and Daniel Shamoon of Luxury Hotel Partners.
Turnkey Residences
The once glamorous former K-Club is the site for The Beach Club. Expect an oceanfront pool, indoor and outdoor spa, outdoor cinema, kids club, tennis courts, padel courts, a gym pavilion, and a collection of restaurants. Nobu Beach Inn will also develop 25 residences along this 2.5-mile stretch. This limited collection offers turnkey ownership and full member-only access to the amenities and services.
On the Subject of Food

Co-founder Chef Nobu Matsuhisa delivers destination dining with an accent on Japanese fusion. Miso Black Cod is the silky, buttery glazed dish famously loved by Robert De Niro, a signature of Nobu menus worldwide. Seven restaurants and bars are in the works, including an oceanfront grill, featuring local catch and an omakase sushi bar.
