SWISS' New First Class Product Offers Utmost Privacy and Space

European airlines are finally catching up to their Middle Eastern and Asian counterparts.

In an effort to compete with the likes of Emirates, Singapore Airlines, and Qatar Airways, since 2025, Air France’s new La Première and Lufthansa’s Allegris First Class Suites have been offering an in-flight suite experience to their most discerning travelers. And now, it’s SWISS’ turn to upgrade its first-class cabin to something ultra luxurious.

In October, SWISS took delivery of the its first A350-900 fitted with the SWISS Senses cabin concept. And while the entire airplane has been redesigned, it’s the first-class cabin that is the most striking. Instead of simple seats, travelers now enjoy entire private suites — some with a double bed.

Inside Swiss’ new First, there are only three enclosed suites: one on each side of the aircraft and one in the middle. The suites on the sides contain one large seat each and are dubbed Single Suites. The one in the middle contains two seats and is known as Suite Plus. Suite Plus is for those traveling as a couple or as a family, with the two seats transforming into a double bed.

The Seats

While Suite Plus is larger than the Single Suites, know that the seats themselves are a bit narrower. The seats are 33.8 inches in width in the Single Suite seat against 24 inches for each of the two seats in Suite Plus. That said, the bed length remains the same: 6.5 feet.

No matter if you opt for a Single Suite or Suite Plus, you’ll get the space, comfort, and privacy you crave, all wrapped up in an elegant decor. The large seats covered in a gray plaid, the wood accents, and the tall close-able, burgundy-colored sliding doors create a classic and chic vibe.

But SWISS’ new first-class is not just about space and privacy. It’s also about all the little extras that make your flight a lot more pleasant.

There’s a new lighting system that helps air travelers better deal with jet lag; larger screens for your entertainment needs, a large personal wardrobe so your clothes stay wrinkle-free; seat heating and cooling; and more.

How Can I Try SWISS’ New First Class?

Currently, Zurich to Boston is the only long-haul route where you can try the new SWISS First. You might be able to try it out on some of SWISS’ European routes. Just make sure you’re flying on one of the airline’s new A350-900s .

Not satisfied with launching a brand-new first-class cabin last October, SWISS is upping the ante in 2026 with its First Grand Suite.

The SWISS First Grand Suite will consist of two adjoining suites separated by a private aisle for maximum privacy. It will be for those traveling as a couple or as a family.

One of the adjoining suites will be the aforementioned Suite Plus, while the other one will be one of the Single Suites also mentioned previously. You can set up your bed in the suite that suits you best — double bed or single bed, you choose. The other suite will then be arranged according to your needs: as a space to have a meal with your traveling partner, as an office where to catch up on work, or as an area where to relax and watch a movie.

The SWISS First Grand Suite will be available in 2026 on the new Airbus A350s and the refurbished Airbus A330s on flights from Switzerland. Later on, it will also be available in SWISS’ Boeing 777s.
