The names Sonu and Eva Shivdasani might not be familiar to you, but the fruit of their lives’ work certainly is. The couple is the force behind two of the biggest luxury hospitality brands out there: Soneva and Six Senses. And because there’s no stopping two such creative minds, they have decided to launch another high-end hotel brand: Sosei. Luxury travelers who have stayed at any Soneva or Six Senses properties in their traipsing around the world know that this is extremely good news. Sonu and Eva Shivdasani will create something magical again and nobody will want to miss out on it. Least of all the team at Galavante.
Sonu And Eva Shivdasani’s New Brand: Sosei
Because the announcement of the launch of Sosei is only a couple of months old, there’s very little information about the project so far. What we do know, however, is that ‘Sosei’ is Japanese for ‘rebirth’ and ‘revitalization’. That means that there’s every reason to expect properties that concentrate on wellness and relaxation. And because Sonu Shivdasani has said that the concept will be inspired by Japanese hospitality, we can predict exceptional service too. When it comes to locations, Shivdasani has also mentioned that he had been looking at Japan, South Africa, Europe, and the Arctic. No matter the place, we know that the first Sosei property will be worth the trip, even if it means trekking all the way to the Arctic Circle.
Soneva

Soneva, a portmanteau of Sonu and Eva Shivdasani, was the couple’s first venture. Their first property in the Maldives, Soneva Fushi, launched in 1995. Since then, two more Soneva resorts have opened in the archipelago: Soneva Jani and Soneva Secret. All Soneva properties are described using the same two words: barefoot luxury. In short, the focus is on remarkably beautiful geographical locations, pared-back but high-quality architecture and design, wellness, relaxation in nature, and sustainability. Proof that properties don’t need glittering chandeliers, marble columns, or black-tie-only restaurants to be extremely appealing to A-listers. Both Soneva Fushi and Soneva Jani have Michelin keys — a sign of excellence if there ever was one.
Six Senses

While Soneva properties are all located in the Maldives, the Six Senses luxury resorts, five-star hotels, and wellness spas are spread throughout the world. There are 27 in total, from Asia to Europe, the Middle East and Oceania, and 21 of them have Michelin keys. Sonu and Eva Shivdasani sold the brand in 2012 and it is now in the hands of IHG Hotels &Resorts. As the Shivdasanis have always intended, Six Senses properties are all about wellness, sustainability, and local culture. Four Six Senses properties will open in 2026: one in Saudi Arabia, one in Italy, one in the United Arab Emirates, and one in Israel.
