There is no seaside destination more glamorous than Monaco, and it’s easy to prove. For one, 33 percent of the people living in the city-state are millionaires. And second, the principality is jam-packed with luxury offerings. In fact, Monaco manages to cram four world-renowned casinos, eight Michelin-starred restaurants, and two Michelin-keyed hotels in just 0.80 square miles of space. And most of these luxury properties are the products of one brand: Monte-Carlo SBM. But Monte-Carlo SBM is branching out. It’s leaving the glorious sunshine and glittering beauty of the Mediterranean behind to open an opulent hotel in the French Alps. But not anywhere in the Alps, of course. In Courchevel, the chicest ski resorts of them all. Where else?
Monte-Carlo One Courchevel

While it’s 185 miles north of Monaco, Courchevel is the alpine equivalent of the principality. You can’t throw a stone in this world-class ski resort without either hitting a Michelin-starred restaurant, a Dior boutique, or a five-star hotel. And soon, Monte-Carlo SBM will add its own luxury property to the mix.
Monte-Carlo One Courchevel will open in December 2027 in Courchevel 1850, one of the six villages in the resort. The name Courchevel 1850 refers to the village’s elevation, i.e. 1850 meters (6070 feet), and is the highest and most exclusive part of the valley. In other words it will be a luxury bubble within a luxury bubble, within a luxury bubble for the ultimate winter retreat.
Monte-Carlo One Courchevel will set up shop in the former Palace des Neiges, which is currently undergoing a complete renovation. Unsurprisingly, the world-famous architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron is running the project. Herzog & de Meuron is the studio behind the Tate Modern in London, and the Elbphilharmonie concert hall in Hamburg — so expect to be wowed by some exquisite modern design.
Monte-Carlo One Courchevel will be Monte-Carlo SBM’s first property outside of the Monaco area, as well as the first Monte-Carlo One – Hotels & Residence property. That means that the pressure’s on to deliver something exceptional and prestigious. But Monte-Carlo SBM has been providing the highest level of excellence for 160 years, so we’re not really worried.
Naturally, Monte-Carlo One Courchevel will be one of the most sought-after properties to stay at during the 2030 Winter Olympic Games, taking place in Courchevel. Plan to book your suite as soon as it opens if you don’t want to miss out.
