Michelin-Starred Restaurants that Deliver

By Rachel Singh

NYC Michelin Takeout

Dreaming of a table at a Michelin-starred restaurant? This is the closest you can get right to that now.  These are the Michelin-starred restaurants that deliver.  It may be a once in a lifetime opportunity too.

It’s time to celebrate something special or just switch up your daily quarantine routine.  There are the current NYC Michelin-starred restaurants that deliver or have pickup during the shutdown. So put that special bottle of champagne on ice and get ready for a night at home to remember.

Three Michelin Stars

Chef’s Table at Brooklyn Fare

If you’re interested in the famous 20-course prix fixe menu, you’re out of luck. Instead, the Chef’s Table is offering a customized takeout-friendly menu. It may be the only time in history Chef’s Table will be one of the Michelin-starred restaurants that deliver.  Think chicken soup with truffles and foie gras, Alaskan king crab salad, American Wagyu beef short ribs. That’s just to start.  They’ll also throw in wild sea bass from France with Japanese rice and porcini mushrooms. Most dishes need to be ordered 24 hours in advance, so plan accordingly. The quality of ingredients and the attention to detail will not disappoint. It is a three-Michelin-star experience after all. Available on Caviar for pickup only.

Two Michelin Stars

Blue Hill at Stone Barns

Recreate Blue Hill’s two-Michelin-star experience at home.  While Blue Hill may not be one of the Michelin-starred restaurants that deliver, they do have to-go boxes.   These boxes are treasure troves filled with pristine ingredients from the farm and local suppliers. First, the Pastry Box will make everyone happy.  On any day, you can find rice pudding, warm slices of brioche, brownie mix and granola. The Fish Box includes fish caught by Montauk day-boats, New England clam chowder, oysters and mussels. It’s only available Thursday to Sunday, just in time to have fresh seafood for the weekend.

Something for Meat Eaters Too

More of a carnivore? The Beef Box is available every Saturday and is filled with mixed cuts of 30-month grass-fed, Stone Barns-raised Red Devon steer, along with sausages, spice rub, cooking tips and more. The Flower Box brings a touch of spring from the Stone Barns Center’s fields and greenhouse to your home. Breads, bone marrow, pantry items and full cakes are also offered. Boxes can be picked up from the Blue Hill locations in Greenwich Village and at Stone Barns.  Because a lot of you are in the Hamptons and Brooklyn, they have  special pickups in Brooklyn and Sag Harbor.

Give a Helping Hand

To help the community, you can also buy for $150 a ResourcED Box.  The restaurant will deliver to healthcare workers, seniors, or other people in need.  For this group, who really deserves it right now, Blue Hill is one of the Michelin-starred restaurants that deliver.  Each box will help feed 10 people.

One Michelin Star

Several one-Michelin-star restaurants are also open for delivery and takeout. Here are a few great options.

Cote

Cote will satisfy even the most carnivorous. Order a bowl with a selection of three prime cuts or Korean marinated short ribs over rice with pickles and kimchi. If you want to limit your carb intake, choose grilled meats like American Wagyu ribeye or Japanese A5 Wagyu. If you’re feeling adventurous and prefer to grill your own meat, order Colorado lamb chops.  There’s also a prime 16-ounce ribeye directly from Cote’s new online butcher shop.

Japanese Restaurants

If you’re in the mood for Japanese, Kajitsu has a variety of bento boxes available to order on Caviar.

  • Sushi Noz proposes maki, rolls and chirashi.
  • Sushi Yasuda offers their full menu, including omakase.
  • Kanoyama is preparing sushi, sashimi and other entrees including salmon teriyaki for takeout and delivery.

Mexican, To Go

While you can’t enjoy Claro’s beautiful patio, you can still order their delicious Oaxacan cuisine.   The chicken mole rojo or the braised short rib mole negroare on offer. And Claro isn’t just delivering food. Order the El Buho La Immersion mezcal flight for a selection of five mezcals to sip at home.

Caviar Russe

Caviar Russe ensures you still have access to precious delicacies while stuck at home. Osetra (including the extremely rare albino Almas), sevruga, sterlet, Siberian, salmon and trout caviar are available for delivery nationwide. You can order your caviar with blinis and crème fraiche, foie gras, truffles and smoked salmon. Mother of pearl spoons and plates are also available.  They want you to do it rights even at home. Through July, receive a $100 gift card with an order of $500 or more.

Wallse

Wallsé is a lovely restaurant serving outstanding Austrian cuisine. Their to-go menu includes white asparagus and a foie gras terrine with green beans.  You may also find pistachios and brioche; veal schnitzel and beef goulash. Of course, don’t miss the apple strudel.

Carbone, Marea & Meadowsweet

If you’re in the mood for Italian, try Carbone’s famous spicy rigatoni or tortellini al ragù. If you are looking for a family-style dish, the extra-large veal parmesan, jumbo shrimp scampi or 40-ounce prime porterhouse will do just fine.

Marea also offers their classic Nova Scotia lobster and burrata salad. They even offer the red wine-braised octopus and bone marrow fusilli, which actually delivers well.  For more homey dishes, order up the eggplant parmesan, braised short ribs and soft polenta. Make it a combo with tiramisu and a Negroni.

If you want to prepare your own pasta, Meadowsweet in Brooklyn has their delicious homemade vodka and puttanesca sauces to go. They can also prepare a full meal for you with cavatelli mac & cheese, olive oil rolls, apple tart Tatin, homemade ice cream, and a flourless chocolate fudge bar.
