Spas are not what they used to be. Gone are the days when Balinese massages and rejuvenating facials were the most deluxe treatments on offer. Today’s spa – now dubbed “wellness clubs” – are akin to medical clinics and have doctors on the payroll to prove it. Wellness clubs’ offerings extend as far as full-body scans, blood tests, mammograms, and more. That said, it’s not all about poking and prodding. The saunas, steam rooms, fitness classes, pools, body and facial treatments, and all the other fundamental elements of old-fashioned spas, remain. The following five wellness clubs, spread all over the world, are the best of the best – and you’d be remiss not to give them a chance.

Surrenne

Located in Belgravia, one of the chicest neighborhoods in all of London, Surrenne is a very exclusive wellness club. While it is part of the luxury hotel The Emory, not all guests can access it – it’s a members-only space. And the membership doesn’t come cheap: It starts at £10,000 (around $12,930) per year, and newbies need to pay a £5,000 ($6,465) joining fee. Yes, that is steep.

But the high price may be worth it if you want to take care of all your health and wellness needs in one place. Because Surrenne has everything. There’s a pool (with private cabanas); an aromatic steam room; a gym; two fitness studios (including one dedicated to the Tracy Anderson method); and a café serving nutritious food and drinks. But more importantly, it has an army of certified health experts at your disposal, including a surgeon, dermatologist, nutritionist, and fitness experts.

Surrenne’s holistic and diagnostics-focused approach means that the on-site medical professionals will test you from head to toe and then provide you with solutions for your specific medical and wellness requirements. That includes angiograms, mole mapping, brain scans, food intolerance testing, and vaccinations among a very long list of impressive services. We bet you’ve never had a doctor’s visit followed by a massage, and a dip in a heated pool all in one place before. But that’s what you can get at Surrenne.

Love.Life

There’s only one Love.Life Holistic Health + Wellness Club in existence at the moment and it’s located in El Segundo, Los Angeles. But because it was founded by the same people who started Whole Foods, we should probably expect many more of them in the coming years. And we’re here for it.

Love.Live is a clever gym-spa-clinic combo that’s surprisingly affordable: Memberships range from $250 to $750 per month. While the cheapest of the four memberships available only focuses on accessing the fitness and recovery aspects of the club, the rest of them offer a holistic take on health and wellness.

According to the principles of the brand’s methods of Test, Treat, Track, and Transform, at Love.Life, you get continuous diagnosis, care, and advice from the on-site team of medical experts. To start, functional medicine physicians, dieticians, physical therapists, and even sleep experts run a battery of tests on you. Then, they create a thorough, tailor-made care program for long-term benefits. Tests include bone density, scans, cardiac risk screening, musculoskeletal assessments, glucose monitoring, and more.

While the facility is equipped like a clinic, it’s much more fun than that. There’s a state-of-the-art gym, a fitness studio offering a variety of classes, saunas, cold-plunge baths, red light beds, and even a pickleball court. And like in any wellness club worth its salt, you can also get beauty treatments, massages, and tasty snacks at the café.

Saint Haven

Saint Haven is a brand of private wellness clubs located in Australia. While the first of the clubs opened as recently as May 2023 in the affluent suburb of Collingwood in Melbourne, there is already another location established in swanky South Yarra. And a third one is opening in the summer of 2025 in upscale Toorak. The choice of ritzy neighborhoods is no accident: Saint Haven is an ultra luxury wellness club with the corresponding price tag – memberships can reach over 40,000 AUS ($25,200) per year.

Like all modern wellness clubs, Saint Haven’s mission is to help you live a better and longer life. And like in similar clubs, they have the medical expertise and equipment abound with MRIs, blood works, genetics testings, and sessions with a psychologist or physio on offer. But it’s not all clinical: fitness, mindfulness, and trendy healing practices are very much part of the mix, too. Think pilates, meditation classes, sound baths, cold plunges, cupping, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, cryotherapy chambers, and more. Of course, there’s also a pool, high-tech gym equipment, and infrared saunas to complete the picture.

As expected in such a deluxe facility, the decor is impeccable and the amenities are top-notch. The changing rooms alone, with their comfy poufs and Dyson hair tools, look nothing like the ones at your local gym. The beautiful, health-focused, and alcohol-free restaurant is another highlight of this extraordinary space.

Lanserhof

Lanserhof is a brand of wellness resorts with multiple locations: two in Germany, one in Austria, and another one set to open in Spain in late 2026. The first Lanserhof wellness resort launched in 1984, so the brand has over 40 years of experience under its belt. Maybe that’s why it dubs itself the world’s best longevity clinic.

Lanserhof focuses on preventive care, healing, and long-term health for both the body and the mind. To do that, it combines top-tier medical science with alternative practices and principles. That means that every guest at Lanserhof, no matter the program they opt for, starts with a complete medical check-up, including physical examination, blood pressure measurement, urine analysis, and more. From there, they received a curated health plan that encompasses movement and nutritious meals, and possibly sleep therapy, among other services. Programs on offer at Lanserhof range from weight loss to hormone balance, long COVID, mental health, brain health, and more.

Lanserhof does not require a membership, but programs last a minimum of seven days and start at €2,890 ($3,100).

Neko Health

Neko Health Care Centers (there are two — one in Stockholm and one in London) are less like wellness clubs and more like clinics of the future. Because at Neko Health, there are no swanky fitness studios or IV vitamin therapy. Instead, there are doctors and body scanners. That’s it.

An appointment at Neko Health lasts one hour and includes a medical consultation, a full-body scan, and a blood test. During the medical consultation, a professional tests your grip strength and eye pressure, and takes a blood sample for immediate analysis. Then, you step into the Neko Body Scan — the revolutionary tool that has made Neko Health so famous. The machine collects a wealth of data on cardiovascular health and skin abnormalities. All the information obtained from the consultation, blood sample, and scan are then examined by a doctor who will instantly deliver his report on the state of your health. If something is detected, you will be referred to a specialist without delay.

A one-hour appointment costs 2750kr ($274) at the Stockholm location and £299 ($386) at the London one. Neko Health’s innovative approach to health care is so popular that there are very, very long waiting lists at both locations to get an appointment.
