It’s one thing to have a quarter of a mil boat on the Med (which means you’re on Jeff Bezos’s dingy). But when you put that coin towards a boat in the Galapagos, now you’re talking baller status. In a destination of a lifetime, this is what qualifies as doing it right. The most luxurious boat to experience the islands, we would say that Hermes would top the survival of the fittest.
Traveling to the Galapagos Islands is an exclusive experience in and of itself. For one thing, the archipelago is very remote. It’s in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, about 600 miles from the coast of Ecuador. But that’s not the only reason. 97 percent of the Galapagos Islands are designated as a protected national park that can only be accessed when accompanied by a certified naturalist guide. That’s why visiting the islands is reserved to a few select travelers. And since the launch of the Hermes catamaran earlier this year, your trip to the islands won’t only be exclusive, but also ultra luxurious.
Overview of The Ship

Hermes is a brand-new mega-catamaran that launched in the Galapagos Islands in April 2025. The ship only sails around the archipelago and can accommodate a maximum of 20 guests and 19 crew members – you won’t have to deal with any crowds. And when you consider that Hermes is bigger than some of the ships that carry up to 50 guests around the Galapagos, you know there’ll be room enough to spread out, and also enjoy your privacy. But, if even 20 passengers sounds like too many people to you, you can also charter the ship. That way, you can have it all to yourself and yours.
And just so you know: despite its name and how opulent the ship is, it has nothing to do with the French luxury fashion house.
The Suites

Hermes has 12 suites spread over the upper and main decks: 10 double suites and two single suites. All of the suites have private balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows, both of which are essential to spot the extraordinary wildlife and admire the unique scenery. After all, that’s why you traveled all the way there: to see. Each suite is also equipped with a walk-in closet and an enormous bathroom with two sinks, a shower, and a jet tub alongside a large window. (The whales and turtles won’t mind seeing you in your birthday suit, we promise).
The Amenities, The Service, And The Food

Hermes wouldn’t be a luxury small ship without some extra amenities. We’re talking a hammam, a spa (for massages only), a library, two lounges, and a slew of outdoor spaces equipped with sunbeds, including an observation area so you won’t miss any sighting of dolphins, rays, orcas, whales, etc.
Few ships in the Galapagos Islands provide the level of service that Hermes does. There is a butler for every five rooms. Butlers are available 24/7 and can be reached directly on their cell phones via your room’s private phone. You’ll want for nothing.

Meals take place either inside in the dedicated dining area, or outside on the Panoramic Deck. You can also opt to each on your private balcony in your room if you prefer some peace and quiet. Dinner typically takes around two hours and involves four courses, during which you can test out Ecuadorian food and wine. Yucca chips, anyone?
The Cost
Sailing on board Hermes ranges between four days and 15 days. A seven-day voyage starts at $11,695 per person. If you wish to charter the ship for seven days, it will cost $222,205.000. Prices are available on Hermes’ website.
