If there’s one celebrity we’d love to vacation with, it’s Orlando Bloom. The actor knows his stuff when it comes to travel, whether he’s working as an ambassador for one of Britain’s biggest airlines, shooting on location, or simply taking some well-deserved time off.

Looking for some holiday inspiration? Let Orlando’s favorite places serve as a starting point.

His Top Filming Locations

The seasoned actor is no stranger to filming his projects in some of the world’s most exciting destinations.

New Zealand

Orlando has said that he loves filming in locations and destinations that feel otherworldly and almost like you’re on another planet. And what’s more otherworldly than Hobbiton?

The actor famously starred in The Lord of the Rings franchise, which was shot in New Zealand. Ringers can head to Middle-earth for a set-cation and immerse themselves in the beautiful landscapes of the North and South islands.

Morocco

Orlando shot two movies in Morocco, meaning he spent quite a bit of time there. He calls the North African country one of his favorite places.

The award-winning actor has an affinity for all of Morocco’s best parts, including the architecture, culture, and food. Orlando says that a visit to Morocco feels like you’re stepping back in time, and we agree.

Prague

Prague is another top choice for Orlando, which he says is like stepping into a beautiful history book.

He has filmed in the City of a Hundred Spires several times and is a fan of the “interesting culture.” He also appreciates the city’s culinary scene.

If you’re heading to Prague, be sure to embark on a culinary walking tour, where you’ll meander through the winding cobbled streets of the Old Town, which are full of charm and character.

The Caribbean

Did you know that Orlando Bloom almost turned down Pirates of the Caribbean? Well, thank goodness he didn’t, or we’d never have met his iconic Will Turner.

Filming for the first instalment, The Curse of the Black Pearl, primarily took place on St. Vincent and the Grenadines, while Dead Man’s Chest took place across a few different islands, namely Dominica and the Bahamas.

A Surprising Visit To Japan

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor first visited Japan in his 20s, and it’s a trip that surprised him. He said that it felt like he had traveled to the future.

Of course, with advanced public transit options like the Shinkansen and its striking old-meets-new architecture, Orlando makes a very valid point.

Home Is Where The Heart Is

Finally, we have to mention London. After all, Orlando is a Brit and loves where he’s from. Landing at Heathrow Airport always gives him a great feeling as he’s returning to his family and friends.

He called London one of the most exciting cities in the world, with a melting pot of cultures and diversity. Spring in the UK always brings something exciting, from world-class music festivals like the Mountbatten Festival Of Music to renowned sporting events such as Wimbledon — don’t forget your strawberries and cream!
