We’ve always liked Ben Affleck as an actor, director, and writer. But as a husband and boyfriend, well, like many, we were skeptical. That’s all just chatter though from the peanut gallery. The one fact is that J.Lo toned herself down when she was with Ben Affleck. Baggy jeans, chic albeit mom-ware, and a less glammed-up J.Lo emerged. The Restaurant: Sadelles
Part of the Major Food Group empire, Sadelles is the low-key bagel and elevated deli restaurant in Soho. When Jennifer Lopez was with Ben Affleck, it was one of their go-to spots. While it’s a casual place, of course, that’s all relative when it comes to the bagel and lox towers and gourmet fare. Sadelles is always a good idea for brunch in Soho on a weekend and lunch spot during the week.
The Restaurant: Cecconi’s Dumbo
Brooklyn seems like Ben Affleck’s vibe because, after all, it’s close to his BFF Matt Damon, who has a home there too. When Jennifer Lopez was with Ben Affleck, they ventured across the bridge to have lunch at Cecconi’s, which is the public part of Soho House Dumbo. While it’s not in Manhattan, Cecconi’s Dumbo has one of the best views of the city. Italian fare of pastas and pizzas is always a good idea when you’re at Cecconi’s.

Where Jennifer Lopez seemed to dim her light to make Ben Affleck comfortable with her fame, Alex Rodriguez just ate it all up. Because of J.Lo, A-Rod was at the Presidential Inauguration, the Met Gala, and the Super Bowl. He was all about having his lady shine. Of course, there were those unfortunate rumors of him texting a certain Southern Charm reality player. There’s no room for that so he dropped from hero to zero in our book. But regardless, you never know what will happen, and J.Lo dressed and shone brightly when they were together. As for the restaurants they frequented, it was J.Lo’s elegance and glamour all the way. One of the elegant Midtown standbys is Marea, which at the time when Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez dined there, had a Michelin star. The food is always good, and it’s a power-player scene in NYC. Of course, Jennifer Lopez fits right in.
The Restaurant: Carbone
Also from the Major Food Group guys, Carbone still continues to be one of the top places to see celebrities. It’s the full package of solidly good food, great scenes, and good hospitality. That is if you’re a VIP, because they seem to be the only people who can get tables. Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez, of course, never had an issue and lived the good life over a plate of signature rigatoni.
The Restaurant: Cipriani
This is one of those spots that is such a scene, it’s the antithesis of Ben Affleck’s style. However, it’s so J.Lo, with the beautiful people watching that it doesn’t even matter if the food is just so-so. Cipriani is a classic celebrity spot and where J Lo and Alex Rodriguez would often bring their families. When you have the J Lo glow, why not let it shine?
