Amanda Seyfried

Just give her the Oscar now. We had no idea what a dulcimer was, much less that you can play one while belting out Joni Mitchell and crush it like Amanda Seyfried. Between flexing her musical talent on late night shows and starring as a police officer in the new crime drama Long Bright River, Amanda Seyfried certainly has a lot going on. Here are some of her favorite places to unwind between gigs.

Charleston, South Carolina

While a lot of celebs jump at the chance to take their adventures international, one of Amanda Seyfried’s favorite destinations is surprisingly close to home. After spending time in Charleston, South Carolina to film her 2010 movie Dear John, the actress often returns to the city with her friends and family. Charleston is one of the oldest cities in the US and checks all the boxes for the perfect trip stateside: food, history, culture, and good ‘ol southern hospitality. You can step into the past while perusing the 18th century Charleston City Market, taste mouth-watering lowcountry seafood while wandering the city’s picturesque harbor front, and earn some serious trivia points exploring Fort Sumter. And of course, no trip to Charleston is complete without snapping an Insta pic in front of the whimsical houses of Rainbow Row.

Where to stay: The Dewberry Hotel

Vis, Croatia

If you’re wondering where to find crystal clear waters, freshly caught seafood, and a glass of sparkling wine — minus the tourist traps and crowded beaches — look no further than Vis. As the farthest island from the Croatian mainland, Vis offers all the beauty and luxury that Croatia is known for, while maintaining the slow and laid-back vibes of a small village. The island also masqueraded as Greece for Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again — where Amanda Seyfried quickly fell in love with the island’s people, food, and weather. I mean, let’s be honest — how could she not? The island boasts a historic old town, a bustling local fishing village, and numerous rock and sand beaches. So pick your poison for an afternoon in paradise. But the real show-stopper on any trip to Vis is the Blue Cave. Located on Biševo, a tiny islet off the coast of Vis, the tiny grotto literally glows from the inside out in bright blue hues that are nothing short of pure magic.

Where to stay: Villa Roca

Prague, Czech Republic

Remember being a kid and wishing you could somehow step foot into your favorite storybook? If only your younger self knew that you could — with a trip to Prague, that is. In 2019, Amanda Seyfried took to Instagram to share her love for the Czech capital. Prague is the place where fairy tales literally come to life. Cobblestone streets? Check. Medieval taverns? Check. Towering gothic churches? Check, check, check. And like the cherry on top of a thousand-year-old cake, Prague Castle shines bright above it all. Start your day by watching the Apostles usher in the top of the hour on the Astronomical Clock in Old Town Square, then make your way across Charles Bridge for a refreshing (and foamy — you’ll get used to it) Czech Pilsner in Malá Strana. I mean, when was the last time you crossed a bridge from the 1300s just to get a beer? Totes casual.

Where to stay: Mandarin Oriental, Prague

Wales, United Kingdom

We totally get it; England, Ireland, and Scotland get a lot of love — and for good reason. But Amanda Seyfried has one message for us all. Stop sleeping on Wales. While filming You Should Have Left in 2018, her Instagram basically turned into a Wales fanpage. And let me tell you — she’s got us convinced. She channeled her inner Game of Thrones at Harlech Castle and explored the serene shores of Tan-y-Bwlch Beach. From rugged cliffs and roaring waterfalls in Snowdonia National Park, to quaint fishing villages like Tenby, and over 600 castles, Wales has a hidden gem for every traveler. Not to mention, their national animal is a dragon. Need we say more?

Where to stay: Palé Hall

Singapore

Ah, Singapore. Where the airport doubles as a rainforest and the food carts are Michelin-starred — there’s nowhere else quite like it. While the small Asian country covers less than 300 miles, it packs quite the punch. And Amanda Seyfried has stated that it’s one her favorite places she’s visited. Although it’s often known for its modern architecture, clean-as-a-whistle streets, and all around bougie vibes, there’s a lot more to Singapore than just glitz and glam. It’s basically the poster-child for the term “melting pot.” With influences from multiple cultures, you can eat your way through Chinatown, snap the perfect Instagram pic in front of the vibrant murals on Arab Street, and explore the ornate Hindu temples of Little India in one day. And that’s all before capping off the day with a Singapore Sling and a visit to the mesmerizing Garden Rhapsody light show at Gardens by the Bay. The. Perfect. Travel. Day.

Where to stay: Marina Bay Sands
