This year, it’s certainly a different holiday, so we’re throwing it back to 2019 when the hotels just let it rip with the holiday decorations. A number of these hotels are still open, though not for the traditional come-one-come-all brunches and tea, to mitigate COVID exposure. But if you make a room reservation, you’ll be in the holiday spirit in no time.
The Peninsula Chicago
This is and always will be one of the grandest hotels for Christmas decorations, and the Peninsula Chicago is showing up for you this year. The lions at the entrance are draped in their grand holiday wreath regalia, and yes there is a 30+ foot tree still up in the lobby restaurant. Indoor dining may be closed but they are still bringing the Christmas spirit. Outside guests are not allowed, but there’s no better reason to book a room and a slot for a family swim in their pool for a holiday staycation.
The Four Seasons Florence
On a regular day, this is one of the most elegantly and lavishly decorated hotels in the world, and that’s just Monday. For the holidays, where Christmas is kind of a big thing in Italy, it’s next level. Just to walk around the historic lobby and bar will put you in the right holiday state of mind.
The Pierre New York
With a lot of the hotels closed in New York, The Pierre is the place to get your holiday decor in, whether there is a pandemic or not. The halls are still decked out, the lights are twinkling and the tree is trimmed. Also their room service is as good as ever, so get a suite and make a holiday out of your stay.
