As the year comes to a close, besides pumpkin spiced lattes and holiday markets, a handful of new hotels are arriving – just in time to close out 2025. And for a few of these new hotels, sometimes they do save the best for last. These are the hotel openings of 2025 that have yet to grace us this December.

Rosewood Courchevel Le Jardin Alpin

Location: Courchevel, France

Rosewood Courchevel Le Jardin Alpin is confirmed to open in December 2025, under the renowned Rosewood Hotels & Resorts flag. This latest addition of to the world-famous top-tier ski resort is opening just in time for this ski season. Without doubt, it is one of the most anticipated debuts in the Alps this decade.

Nestled at 1,850 meters in the exclusive Jardin Alpin enclave, this will be Rosewood’s first mountain resort in continental Europe. And, fittingly, it lands in one of the most storied ski destinations in the world. Designed by Paris-based L’Art de Vivre, the property channels an understated chalet aesthetic. The color palette is all about timber, stone, wool, and cashmere.

The scale is deliberately intimate — just 51 rooms and suites, each a cocoon of alpine warmth with fireplaces, terraces, and panoramic views of the snow-dusted peaks. Interiors blend contemporary restraint with Savoyard craft, and the brand’s “Sense of Place®” ethos runs deep. Think local stone, handmade ceramics, and art that reflects the rhythm of the mountains.

Naturally, the amenities meet Courchevel’s rarefied expectations. Of course, the resort offers true ski-in/ski-out access, a full-service Rosewood Spa with alpine-inspired therapies, and a terrace restaurant that transitions from vin chaud at noon to champagne under the stars. There’s a cigar lounge for long winter nights, a Rosewood Explorers Club to keep younger guests happily occupied, and butler service that anticipates everything down to the perfect temperature of your boots.

Capella Kyoto

Location: Kyoto, Japan

If there’s one opening set to define Asia’s luxury scene at the close of 2025, it’s Capella Kyoto. Scheduled to welcome guests in December 2025, this will be the Capella brand’s first property in Japan. Naturally, it’s arriving in one of the country’s most quietly powerful destinations.

The celebrated Japanese architect behind Tokyo’s Olympic Stadium, Kengo Kuma & Associates, designed Capella Kyoto. The hotel sits in Miyagawa-chō, Kyoto’s historic geisha district, moments from the Kamo River and the lantern-lit lanes of Gion. In true Capella style, Kyoto’s iteration promises a deeply residential feel. There will only be 92 rooms and suites, each inspired by machiya townhouses and layered with natural wood, washi textures, and sliding screens.

The interiors are less about hotel theatrics and more about restraint. We’re talking tatami, cedar, soft shadow — all leaning in to Kyoto’s aesthetic soul. Every element, from the ceramics to the paper lanterns, is crafted by local artisans.

Wellness is everywhere. A subterranean AURIGA Spa will draw on Japanese healing traditions, with hinoki soaking baths, tea ceremonies, and treatments centered on the lunar cycle. Dining is equally meticulous: a kaiseki-inspired flagship restaurant led by a Michelin-pedigree chef, plus a sleek bar for Kyoto whisky and cocktails infused with yuzu and shiso. Guests can also expect Capella’s signature Culturalists. These are local curators, who design bespoke experiences, from private temple meditations to after-hours visits with Kyoto’s master craftspeople.

Château la Commaraine Hotel, Spa & Cuverie

Location: Pommard, France

There are château hotels in Burgundy, and then there’s Château de la Commaraine, the 12th-century estate. Set amid four hectares of Clos-walled vines in Pommard, just outside Beaune, this storied property has been in restoration for years. Finally, it will open its doors this December, as one of the most exclusive new addresses in wine country.

Operated by the Millésime Collection (which specializes in historic estates turned design sanctuaries), the château will debut with 37 rooms and suites. Each one is individually designed to marry the medieval structure with a modern touch. Limestone floors, timber beams, velvet upholstery, and views that roll endlessly across Grand Cru vineyards.

At its heart lies a reverence for terroir. The estate’s cuverie and private wine library will be led by resident sommeliers, curating daily tastings from both the property’s own production and neighboring domaines. The dining, under the direction of a Michelin-level chef, will celebrate Burgundy’s rural abundance. Think truffled poulet de Bresse, escargots, and decadent seasonal tasting menus paired to vintages you’ll never see on a list elsewhere.

When you’re not sipping or dining, retreat to the spa. Here, vinotherapy meets old-world ritual. Treatments draw on grape seed oils and crushed-stone scrubs. Better yet, the indoor pool and hammam occupy the château’s original vaulted cellar.

Private garden paths lead to the edge of the vineyards for morning walks through mist and vine rows. And, for those who want complete seclusion, an exclusive-use villa with its own tasting salon is available for full buyouts.

RAH GILI Maldives, a SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLAND

Location: South Malé Atoll

If the Alps and Burgundy are made for firelight, RAH GILI Maldives is pure sunlight. Scheduled to open in December 2025 in the South Malé Atoll, this new island retreat is already being whispered about among private-jet circles as the next generation of Maldivian luxury.

Set on its own powder-white island ringed by electric-blue water, the resort will offer 74 villas, including 38 overwater sanctuaries. There will also be a handful of ultra-secluded beach estates, each with private infinity pools and outdoor baths. Privacy is absolutely the new currency here. RAH GILI is designed to make even the most seasoned Maldives traveler feel like they’ve discovered somewhere uncharted.

The architecture leans toward modern island minimalism. All pale timber, linen, and glass, with open-air living spaces that dissolve into the horizon. Every villa comes with a dedicated host, and nearly everything, from breakfast to moonlit dinners, can be staged in-villa. The resort’s signature restaurant will reinterpret Maldivian and Indian Ocean flavors through a Michelin-grade lens. And of course, there will also be a barefoot-elegant beach grill and over-water bar.

Wellness will be a central pillar. The RAH Spa will feature treatment suites that open onto the lagoon, alongside yoga pavilions, an ocean-facing gym, and a curated residency program bringing in visiting healers and chefs. And, needless to say, diving and snorkeling are world-class: manta rays, coral gardens, and endless turquoise.

The First Hotel Cortina

Location: Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy

High in the Dolomites, The First Hotel Cortina is set to open its doors in late 2025. This means that a new chapter of ultra-luxury is coming to Italy’s most glamorous ski town.

Operated by The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts group (they also manage the celebrated First Roma Arte and Dolce), this new property will extend the brand’s philosophy of boutique-scale hospitality and art-driven design to the Alps. Set within a restored historic building in the heart of Cortina d’Ampezzo, The First Hotel will feature just 30 rooms and suites. But, The Pavilions have conceived each one more like a private mountain apartment than a hotel suite. Expect cashmere throws, oak paneling, and terraces that open to the Tofane peaks. The aesthetic sits somewhere between Italian mid-century and modern alpine — elegant and understated. Rooms will include fireplaces, walk-in wardrobes, marble baths, and curated artworks drawn from contemporary Italian galleries.

The wellness spa will be a sanctuary of its own, with indoor-outdoor pools overlooking the slopes, a Finnish sauna, and treatments from blend Dolomite and Mediterranean botanicals. Meanwhile, dining will reflect the region’s dual Alpine and Venetian influences. It’s all about mountain truffles, game, and handmade pasta served alongside a curated cellar of Northern Italian wines. And, the rooftop bar promises to become Cortina’s chicest new après-ski spot, serving Negronis with a view of the snowfields turning pink at sunset.
