After a multi-year pause and a top-to-bottom revamp, Aman Rosa Alpina is back on the map—just in time for all your Dolomite-dreaming. The doors officially opened on July 24, 2025—and they glided open to reveal one of the most polished retreats in the Alps. San Cassiano’s most legendary stay has been quietly transformed into something even more enticing. Sleeker, but still with that old-world mountain soul humming underneath. Don’t see this as a reopening—it’s more of a carefully orchestrated return to form.

History

Rosa Alpina started as a family-run hotel in the 1930s, right in the heart of San Cassiano. This was long before the Dolomites made it onto every skier’s and hiker’s bucket list. And for three generations, it evolved gently under the Pizzinini family’s watch. Welcoming everyone, from snow-loving locals to ultra-discreet international travelers. Then, Aman stepped in. In 2021, they hit pause on operations, handing things over to designer Jean-Michel Gathy for a meticulous redesign. Emphasis on “meticulous.” This wasn’t a case of new carpets and fresh paint. It was a full creative deep-dive into how to re-imagine a mountain classic without stripping it of its character. The result? A very Aman take on an alpine retreat—serene, sophisticated, and still totally cozy.

Accommodation

There are now 51 rooms and suites, each one designed to let the mountains do most of the talking. Interiors are dressed in natural stone, blond wood, and warm wool textures. So, simple, rich, and built to unwind in. The Aman Suites are a solid step up for anyone looking to go large: huge windows, open-plan living, and a fireplace that all but begs for a post-ski brandy. For even more space (and privacy), Chalet Zeno has been reworked into a 280-square-meter mountain cocoon with its own spa zone. Wherever you land, it’s all panoramic views and cushy corners.

Food + Drink

Food has always been a key part of Rosa Alpina’s pull, and that hasn’t changed—if anything, it’s been turned up several notches. There’s an all-day Lounge for cocktails, tea, and relaxed meals; an elegant Grill that re-imagines Alpine staples with just enough edge; and a new breakfast room with live cooking stations for a made-to-order morning ritual. There’s also a cigar and spirits lounge, where the fire crackles and the pour leans generous. Wine lovers get their moment in the hotel’s private tasting room—a dimly lit cellar packed with treasures. And while it’s not here just yet, a Japanese restaurant is coming next winter, with sushi and sashimi prepped by chefs trained in Tokyo precision. Because why not pair snowy peaks with toro?

Amenities

The spa now includes an outdoor infinity pool with straight-shot views of the Dolomites, two indoor pools, and a Jacuzzi that’s less bubbles-and-laughs and more pure muscle reset. The treatment menu leans into nature, with Alpine herbs and oils are used in everything, from scrubs to massages. You can also look forward to The Ski Lounge. Heated boot storage, top-notch rental gear, and a team who’ll have your skis ready before you finish your second espresso. For the non-skiers (or the après-only crowd), there are three private cinemas, complete with plush seats and snacks that certainly didn’t come from a vending machine.

What else?

Aman doesn’t stop at great rooms and great food. They double down on experience. You can book wood-fired lunches cooked by private chefs in one of the Pizzinini family’s mountain cabins, take guided hikes along UNESCO trails, or spend a morning biking through those wildflower-strewn meadows that seem as though they’re designed for slow motion. If you want to make an entrance, helicopter transfers are available from Venice, or you can arrive via a very scenic two-and-a-half-hour drive that winds through Alpine valleys and switchbacks. Either way, the arrival sets the tone.
