Governors Island already felt like New York’s best-kept summer secret, and now it’s getting a dose of Brooklyn cool and Italian soul. Misipasta, the cult-favorite aperitivo bar and pasta boutique from acclaimed chef Missy Robbins, has set up a dreamy pop-up dinner series on the island. And, it’s the kind of experience that proves you don’t need a passport for truly world-class dining.

The Pop-Up

From June 2 through August 29, 2025, Misipasta is bringing the magic. They’re hosting intimate dinners four nights a week – Monday through Thursday – right on The Play Lawns of Governors Island. With only 16 lucky souls guaranteed a seat each night, the series cultivates a uniquely personal atmosphere. To begin, you’ll get whisked away from Pier 25 in Tribeca. Upon arrival, you’re greeted warmly by the Misipasta crew. Here, you’re treated to a bespoke experience, complete with stunning sunset views and hand-rolled pasta under the stars. Finally, after the last course, a twilight ferry glides you back to Manhattan. You’ll return with every heart content, and every belly gloriously satisfied.

About Misipasta

Born from the team behind Misi and Lilia, Misipasta is a boutique pasta shop and aperitivo bar located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It’s where you go for fresh pasta wrapped in butcher paper, grilled artichoke sandwiches, and mozzarella in carrozza that you’ll dream about long after the last bite. Think of it as the market version of Misi – more casual, more playful, but still deeply rooted in Missy Robbins’s obsession with simplicity and flavor.

Why Governors Island?

Well, simply put – it’s magic. Governors Island, you see, is a sprawling 172-acre oasis. It’s just minutes from Manhattan, boasting sweeping harbor views and lush lawns. The vibe there is truly unique: equal parts urban escape and coastal retreat. In fact, the Misipasta team themselves call it “a unique version of an Italian countryside picnic.” What’s more, with no cars, endless green space, and sunsets that rival Santorini, it’s the absolute perfect canvas. It’s ideal for a culinary experience that’s all about slowing down and savoring every single moment.

Food + Drink

While Misipasta keep the menu deliciously under wraps, expect handmade pasta, seasonal vegetables, and aperitivo-style bites that channel the spirit of Italy with a Brooklyn twist. Past Misipasta favorites include Ricotta crostini with mushrooms, Bucatini with ’nduja, Spinach and mascarpone tortelli, and Grilled artichoke sandwiches. Indulge in dessert, sip the exquisite wine, and take in the moment—good food, good company, and a setting that makes summer in the city feel just right.

Price

Tickets for the Misipasta on Governors Island dinner series cost $450 per person. And that’s a flat fee, mind you, covering absolutely everything: your ferry transport, the incredible multi-course dinner, all your drinks, and even gratuity. Everything from the curated aperitivo experience to the sunset-drenched setting. Official reservations are managed exclusively through Governors Island’s event page.
