Luxurious Hong Kong

In 2025, Hong Kong ranked as the second-most visited city in the world with over 23 million international arrivals, a six percent jump from 2024. While the anti-China protests and the COVID-19 restrictions had a severe impact on the city’s economy and tourism numbers in the past few years, the investors and deep pocket visitors are finally back. And the luxury hospitality scene is having a resurgence too, of course. In 2025, Hong Kong was home to the world’s best hotel, Rosewood Hong Kong, and the world’s best bar, Bar Leone. It was a slow recovery, but one that was worth waiting for. So, if you’re heading to Hong Kong soon, this luxury pocket guide will lead you to all best the spots.

Luxurious Hong Kong: Where to Stay

Mandarin Oriental

It’s hard to find a bad Mandarin Oriental. In fact, it’s impossible. But the one in Hong Kong’s Central district is special. And you don’t have to take our word for it. Even the prestigious
Michelin guide has awarded it one Michelin key and calls it “one of the best hotels in Hong Kong, if not all of Asia.” The property, with 387 guest rooms and 60 suites, is undergoing a very exciting and major $100-million renovation. When the work is completed in late 2026, you’ll be able to try Michelin-starred chef Daniel Boulud’s French cuisine at the top of LANDMARK PRINCE’S, a shopping complex connected to the hotel via an enclosed walkway. The restaurant’s rooftop terrace will provide some of the best views of Hong Kong’s skyline and harbor. Note that the hotel remains open during the renovations.

Rosewood

The 82-foot-long outdoor infinity pool alone should have you hit the Book Now button at record speed. But, of course, there’s more to this property than a very nice swimming hole. That’s why it’s the best hotel in the world and has three Michelin keys. There are two one-Michelin-starred restaurants on site – one with Cantonese specialties and one focused on elevated Indian street food. And then there’s the wellness department. The Asaya Spa offers
treatments you won’t find anywhere else, including the never-seen-before Spirit of Calligraphy face and body massage performed with paint brushes. More esoteric therapies like hypnosis, singing bowls, and even drawing analysis are also on the menu. And because you want to look and feel your best from head to toes, there’s also a hair spa.

The Peninsula

With two Michelin keys, The Peninsula is a safe bet when you’re booking your trip to Hong Kong – especially if you seek a unique atmosphere. Unlike many luxury hotels in the city, The Peninsula is a historic property, having been opened since 1928. Of course, that means a more traditional decor that tends to have British colonial influences mixed with contemporary elements and Asian touches. There are several dining options on site, including two one-Michelin-starred restaurants – one serving Cantonese fare and one focused on French gastronomy. While it’s hard to pick the best parts of The Peninsula, the indoor pool with its beautiful views certainly tops the list. The fleet of Rolls-Royce, which serves to transport guests across the city, ranks pretty high too.

Luxurious Hong Kong: Where to Drink?

The Aubrey After Dark

The Aubrey, on the 25th floor of the Mandarin Oriental, is a Japanese izakaya with an excellent cocktail menu, a sushi bar, and killer views of the harbor. While it’s a great place to hang out any day of the week and any time of the day, Friday nights are especially fun and glamorous. From 10 PM to 3 AM on Fridays, The Audrey turns into The Aubrey After Dark, a chic party spot complete with renowned DJs and sexy guests who are not afraid to hit the dance floor.

The Diplomat

This speakeasy with 1940s secretive vibes has a team of elegant mixologists that create the kind of craft cocktails that will turn your evening around. Opened from 6 PM to 2 AM, this place is famous for its oh-so-tasty wagyu burger and other finger-licking pub grub. Food is available until midnight, but don’t come too early – you don’t want to miss out on the 12 o’clock cookies and Irish coffees.

Bar Leone

Obviously, you can’t pass on checking out the world’s best bar. This Italian venue serves classic cocktails, thick mortadella sandwiches, and the kind of smoked olives you won’t soon forget. The best part? It does it all in a non-pretentious, friendly atmosphere. There’s no need for outfit change before showing up. You’ll have fun and feel transported to Italy.

Luxurious Hong Kong: Where to Get The Perfect Haircut?

Il Colpo

This luxury brand with a cult following has well over a dozen shops spread all over in Hong Kong. That means that you can get the best haircut of your life, no matter where you stay in the city. Il Copo also offers nail care and beauty treatments, but it’s their hair services that all the Hong Kong socialites and celebrities favor.

The Mandarin Salon

The Mandarin Oriental strikes again. Not content with delivering great accommodation and dining options, it’s also providing exceptional hair services. Located on the 24th floor of the hotel, and with panoramic views of the harbor, the salon offers top-of-the-line cuts, colors, and treatments by some of the best stylists in the city. If you have time, you can also indulge in a facial, mani-pedi, or some new lashes.

Luxurious Hong Kong: Where to Have The Best Spa Day?

Asaya Spa by Guerlain at the Rosewood

To be voted the best hotel in the world, the Rosewood had to pull out all the stops, including in the wellness department. And it’s fair to say that the on-site spa delivers with gorgeous facilities, one-of-a-kind treatments, all-day fitness and wellness classes and coaching, and a dreamy outdoor pool. We particularly like the very unique jade stones and silk facial, but there are all sorts of body and face sculpting treatments available. For those who prefer to be active, the schedule abounds with classes ranging from cardio to yoga, pilates, reiki, meditation, sound healing, and more. You can spend all day in the studio and never run out of activities. Expert trainers will accompany you on personal fitness or group sessions in the state-of-the-art gym. This is the creme de la creme of spas in Hong Kong – and arguably the world over.

The Regent

Because Hong Kong was under British rule for over 150 years, you can find excellent afternoon tea in the city. But nobody does it better than The Regent. The Regent’s Lobby Lounge offers afternoon tea from 3 PM to 6 PM on weekdays and from 12 PM to 6 PM on the weekend, and you should make a reservation well in advance to secure a spot. The classic afternoon tea at The Regent includes amuse-bouches, finger sandwiches, fresh scones, homemade jams, outstanding confectionaries, teas, coffees, and cocktails – all with a view of the harbor. Special and seasonal afternoon tea experiences with extra fancy pastries are also organized regularly. Past afternoon tea experiences have included
The Wizard of Oz afternoon tea, Frida Kahlo afternoon tea, and more.

Luxurious Hong Kong: Where to Eat The Most Delicious Meal?

Let’s be clear: There are many incredible restaurants in Hong Kong. In fact there are 74 Michelin-starred restaurants in the city, including seven with three stars. In short, eating in Hong Kong is a dream. But there’s one place we like best: Man Wah. And yes, it’s only got one Michelin star, but it’s had it for 12 long years. The decor is contemporary Asian and the menu is packed with Cantonese dishes and Asian wines. It’s the perfect place to enjoy some local gastronomy while also enjoying great views.
