South-Africa-born comedian Trevor Noah is a hard one to replace. It’s been two years since his departure, and The Daily Show is still waiting to find a new permanent host. But what’s Trevor been up to since his stint in late night TV? (Well, other than hosting the GRAMMYs, of course.) In a word: travel. And lots of it. Here are some of the locations that Trevor Noah has traveled to over the years.

Guanacaste, Costa Rica

Trevor and his squad are serious friendship goals. Every year, they jet off to a different location on their annual “friendcation.” Their December 2022-January 2023 trip took them to the coastal oasis of Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Trevor and his friends definitely channeled their inner adrenaline junkies with jet skiing off Playa Nacascolo, off-roading in the Palmares Preserve, and a white water rafting incident that may or may not have left the gang capsized. But if you’re looking for a getaway that’s more relaxing than hair-raising, don’t worry — Guanacaste has something for you too. Papagayo Peninsula is filled with luxury resorts and restaurants, where you can sip a Michelada poolside, or enjoy a succulent ceviche with ocean views.

Where to stay: Four Seasons Peninsula Papagayo

Cusco, Peru

Back in 2017, Trevor and then-girlfriend Jordyn Taylor Braff traveled to the ancient city of Cusco, Peru. Once the capital of the Inca Empire, Cusco features a mix of pre-Columbian and Spanish colonialist culture. The city’s picturesque cobbled streets, like Barrio de San Blas, are home to countless artisans, workshops, and craft shops. For foodies, Cusco is the perfect place to taste a rich fusion of indigenous Andean and traditional Spanish cuisine. Perhaps the most famous is cuy al horno — baked guinea pig. The city is also home to numerous ruins and archaeological sites that highlight Cusco’s importance in antiquity, as well as the technological prowess of the Incan and pre-Incan civilizations. You can tour the ruins of Sacsayhuamán, an imposing walled citadel. You can marvel at the perfectly cut Stone of Twelve Angles. And of course, Cusco provides passage to the majestic mother of all Inca ruins — Machu Picchu.

Where to stay: Monasterio, A Belmond Hotel, Cusco

Cape Town, South Africa

Obviously, any story about Trevor Noah’s travels would be remiss to omit South Africa. As a Johannesburg native, the comedian is passionate about promoting international tourism to his home country. He even appeared in a TV campaign encouraging travelers to visit South Africa; it earned third place for “Best Country Promotion Film” at the 2024 World Tourism Film Awards. Trevor himself goes back to visit often — ringing in the 2025 New Year with his friends in Cape Town. While it is a bustling and metropolitan city, Cape Town has the vibe of an urban oasis. The city has miles and miles of stunning coastline along the Atlantic Ocean, with beaches suited for swimming, snorkeling, and water sports. Meanwhile, the entire city is dominated by the iconic Table Mountain. If you’re feeling brave, you can embark on a hike to the top. But if your idea of vacation includes more relaxation than recreation, you can kick off your hiking shoes and take a cable car to the top for those priceless panoramic views.

Where to stay: Ellerman House

Tokyo, Japan

Tokyo’s bustling energy has long drawn travelers from around the world to the vibrant Japanese capital; and Trevor Noah is no exception. In June 2024, Trevor spent some time in Tokyo, where he channeled his inner Nintendo character at Universal Studios Japan and enjoyed cocktails at the quirky and whimsical Bar Piano. From sleek skyscrapers and neon billboards to century-old shrines and traditional tea houses, Tokyo offers a unique blend of the ultra-modern and the traditional. No matter your interests, hobbies, or travel style, Tokyo has something for you. Nightlife? Hit the streets of Roppongi. Street fashion? Head to Harajuku. Luxury shopping? Ginza has you covered. Anime and video games fan? Make your way to Akihabara; the “Electric Town.” Oh, and did we mention that Tokyo has the most Michelin star restaurants in the world? So if you’re not sure where to begin on your trip, you can always just eat your way through the city.

Where to stay: Janu Tokyo

Paro, Bhutan

This may very well be the most unique stamp in Trevor Noah’s passport. In April 2024, Trevor travelled to Paro, Bhutan, where he filmed an episode of his podcast at Ugyen Pelri Palace and spent time meditating with Buddhist monks. Nestled in the Himalayas, Bhutan has retained most of its local heritage due to its remote location and lack of tourism throughout history. But, the country is slowly but surely opening up to more and more tourists eager to experience the ancient customs and traditions of Bhutan. Paro is home to the country’s only international airport as well as its most famous tourist destination — Paro Taktsang. Paro Taktsang or the “Tiger’s Nest” is a breathtaking Buddhist monastery perched on a cliffside, 10,240 feet above sea level. While the hike to the site can be strenuous, the trails wind through lush pine forests, rushing waterfalls, and sacred caves. It’s no surprise that the gravity-defying structure is Bhutan’s most photographed location.

Where to stay: Le Méridien Paro, Riverfront
