Fall Fashion

Falling for Fall Fashion
September 1, 2014

Almost on cue after Labor Day, New York evenings turn crisp and the fashion elite converges on Lincoln Center for Fashion Week, reminding us that it’s time to step up our fall style game. This season, the perfectly undone I-woke-up-this-way look, which has been gathering steam over the last few seasons, is back – but updated, of course. Because what’s a brand new season without a whole bunch of reasons to go shopping?

The Motorcycle Jacket
Ladies, it’s time to invest because the leather moto-jacket is here to stay. Whether you’re shopping Saint Laurent or Vince, go with a classic motorcycle style in supple leather, like this model from Barney's. It’s the easiest way to be right on trend, no matter what you’re wearing underneath.

The Shredded Jean
Dressed down is the new dressed up. Look to the Olsen twins if you don’t believe us. And the easiest way to pull this off is a pair of shredded boyfriend jeans. But be wary of shape – if you’re not Karlie Kloss, you may want to forgo your actual boyfriend’s jeans for a pair intentionally designed for female body. For something completely unique, hurry and claim a spot on the waiting list at RE/DUN.

The Chunky Sweater
You’re so lucky. The most on-point pieces this season are also the comfiest. Look to Kurt Cobain or Ashley Olsen – notice a theme here? – for inspiration when it comes to the essential oversize chunky knit sweater (in cashmere, of course). This will be your staple from the airplane to the ski slopes. The Row is where it’s at.

The Bootie
The bootie is back, again, and we’re so relieved because nothing pairs better with dresses, jeans – even the season’s adorable-but-questionable-in-reality culottes – than the ankle skimmer. The shearling-lined Acne Pistol will keep your toes toasty all winter.
