Italy Set to Reopen This Summer

No, that’s not a typo that our Copy Editor didn’t catch. And no this is not a gimmick to get you to read on. Italy will reopen on June 3 to European Union residents. After one of the strictest lockdowns in Europe, Italians and visitors from the EU will be able to roam freely through the Italian countryside. Bars, restaurants, museums, art galleries and shops are all fair game as well, reopening this month in phases.

To provide incentive to tourists, Sicily is offering to pay for half your flight to the isle, along with one night for every three you spend at your hotel. The additional kicker is no mandatory 14-day quarantine for visitors, at least for now. This is news to watch for both the status of COVID-19 and the reopening of Italy and other European nations to non-EU visitors.
